Leadership and participation for change from social responsibility

Anonim

Talking about leadership and especially about participation for change is a challenge that many people should take into account, since it implies greater responsibility in the social environment that the world currently lives. In addition to this from the perspective of social responsibility, it indicates a greater emphasis, since we must analyze it in what companies can or should not do. This essay aims to make people aware of what can be achieved if you have good leadership, as we will be more aware of what we will impact on future generations.

A leader is essential for any organization and a determining factor for decision-making, since many of the future tasks that lie ahead will depend on him. As an article points out, “the importance of leadership is recognized as a task and a managerial capacity of great relevance in management tasks at any level within an organization; those that, being framed in a context of constant uncertainty and new challenges, can be considered as real competitive advantages to the extent that they enable the achievement of the objectives set by the companies ”.

John P. Kotter, for his part, says in his work "The leadership factor" (1988), that leadership is characterized by the following: 1) Conceiving a vision of what the organization should be and generating the necessary strategies to carry it out. out the vision. 2) Achieve a cooperative "network" of human resources, which implies a highly motivated and committed group of people to turn the vision into reality.

Part of his conception of Kotter is forceful when he says that strategies must be generated, because part of the participation of change is that, it is to look for alternatives that help us grow and have a better vision of what we want to project.

It is said that social responsibility is a means of social transformation, hence leadership is an innovation for the development of our thoughts and actions, to be able to carry out projects that lead to a promising future.

Social responsibility increases the company a greater value both in the social and environmental aspects, it implies that as leaders they must know how to direct the organization on the right path and have a long-term vision, in order to be sensible in the objectives. which can be environmental, social and economic.

Some definitions of social responsibility are:

"It is the continued commitment of businesses to conduct themselves ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of their employees and families, as well as the local community and society in general", Lord Holme and Richard Watts, Word Business Concuil for Sustainable Development.

“Social responsibility is the way of conducting the business of a company in such a way that it becomes co-responsible for social development. A socially responsible company is one that has the ability to listen to the interests of the different parties (shareholders, employees, service providers, suppliers, consumers, community, government and the environment) and incorporate them into the planning of its activities, seeking to meet the demands of all of them not only of the shareholders or owners ”, Instituto Ethos Brasil.

“It is essentially a concept whereby companies voluntarily decide to contribute to a better society and a cleaner environment”, European Green Paper.

For this reason, the person who has leadership has not had certain attributes that characterize him, but a behavior that forms him as leaders, such as their behaviors and abilities. Having leadership participation for change is transforming strategies that serve for the development of an organization for the nation.

Once you become a leader, you can more easily communicate ideas with actors and governments to have that vision of social responsibility that is required and that is part of the policies that help the organization to be synchronized with the world that increasingly demands. a way of subsisting.

If we can understand our role as leaders, we will be starting from a vision of generating sustainable development where we understand the role of responsibility and competition, taking into account the social and economic needs for the well-being of future generations and the social responsibility that seeks to improve the environment.

There are companies that have had a good head as a leader, among which Coca Cola stands out, which has earned the admiration and recognition of people around the world due to its constant social responsibility that it has, regardless of the great company it is. Throughout the planet it has managed to hire countless people achieving local economic development with this, in addition to being a brand that becomes aware of the risks that it affects the environment, therefore, the constant advertising campaigns in order to warn that the products are made from ecopet.

Participation for change invites the creation of alliances that help the massive improvement of society, the government is indispensable in this regard since it will help to a certain extent to make the change significant and of great relevance.

It is important that as leaders in participation for change they get directly involved with the company and with society itself, since from the moment the objectives are set, they must walk in parallel to achieve sustainable development that seeks to rationally exploit natural resources and its regeneration, as well as, discarding the impact of human actions and productive processes that seek to satisfy the needs of present generations without obviously endangering the satisfactions of future generations.

It should be noted that leadership will help us grow and be better as an organization for a promising future as we will be helping to contribute in a transcendental way to the constant fight for global growth in the modern world.
