In this article I am going to share with you the influence that a leader exerts on his work team and the importance of developing the qualities that characterize a leader.
First we will define what is being a leader? Being a leader is having followers, nothing more, leadership is influence, as John C. Maxwell defines it, in his book Mentor 101.
Why influence? According to psychologists, the most introverted individual will influence ten thousand people throughout his life. Each of us influences and receives influence from others, in any given situation or with any given group there is a person who exerts a prominent influence, for example, you will be influenced within your company or company and your work team and in turn you You will influence others, be it in your work team, at home, or your friends.
In business, as in life, people are your most important asset and the influence you have on those people.
A simple example of influence is when a couple goes to a restaurant for lunch, both will receive the influence of the waitress who suggests the specialty of the house, this is an example that daily we are being influenced by others.
How can I identify the leader? It is easy to identify the prominent leader of any group, you just have to observe people when they meet, the following questions will help you to recognize the leader of any group and to assess yourself. Who is the person whose opinion seems of the most value? Who do they observe the most when an issue is discussed? Who do you agree with the fastest? And most importantly, who do people follow?
You must bear in mind that leadership can be taught, the personal characteristics that constitute the raw material of leadership can be acquired and if you combine them with the burning desire to be a great Leader in your business or company, nothing will prevent you from becoming one.
There is also a true born Leader, but to stay at the top you must develop the characteristics of leadership.
In the business industry it is essential to train, develop and be a good Leader, that is what the success of the business you choose will depend on, why is this so? Because the soul of a business is to build and develop lasting relationships with people, to positively influence other people, to have people follow you and for people to learn from your system.
True leadership is about being the person others will gladly and confidently follow, as John Maxwell puts it in his book Mentor 101. One of the reasons I love the freelance business industry is that it allows you to develop that leader who there is in you and they train you to be a good leader.
Discuss some of the different characteristics of becoming a good leader in your freelance business or industry and having a boss in a traditional job:
• The boss manages his employees. The leader trains them
• The boss depends on the authority. The leader, of goodwill
• The boss inspires fear. The leader inspires enthusiasm
• The boss says YO. The leader says, We
• The boss fixes the blame for failure. The leader fixes the failure
• The boss knows how to do it. The leader teaches how to do it
• The boss says: Go. The leader says: Come on!
