Successful application of neurolinguistic programming

Anonim

DEFINITION

Neurolinguistic Programming covers three simple ideas.

  1. The "Neuro" part considers the fundamental idea that all behavior comes from the neurolinguistic process of vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch and feeling. Neurology meets the needs of both the body and the brain, covering the thought process and the physiological reactions that arise. The concept "Linguistics" is due to the fact that we use language to rearrange and restructure our thinking and the way we communicate with others. Finally, "Programming" is the way tasks and actions are organized to produce results.

For José Torres, director of the Ecuadorian School of NLP and connoisseur of the discipline for 16 years, NLP is the study of subjective experience, that is, "Each person is a different world, since they have conscious, unconscious and others even more unconscious that make it be, act and communicate in a certain way ».

ART AND SCIENCE

Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) can be understood as the art and science of personal excellence.

  • Art, because everyone applies a unique form and style to what they are doing and that cannot also be expressed with techniques or words, is something that is found intrinsically within the person. It is a science, because you can apply a specific method and its respective process to determine the models used by outstanding people and thereby obtain outstanding results in a certain field.

BACKGROUND

NLP had its beginnings with John Grinder and Richard Bandler during the 1970s as a result of the study in the transmission of information and were reinforced by the work carried out by three leading psychiatrists:

  • Fritz Perls: creator psychotherapist at the “Gestalt” school of therapy Virginia Satir: extraordinary family psychiatrist, who solves problems that other colleagues considered intractable. M ilton Erickson: a world famous hypnotherapist.

From all the findings made by these three characters, Bandler and Grinder developed a novel model that included and at the same time refined the main results obtained up to then and could be applied in the environment of effective communication, personal change and accelerated learning, triggering a greater enjoyment of life. Over time this model would be known as Neurolinguistic Programming.

With the publication of his books between 1975 and 1977, the literature regarding NLP grew constantly. With this form of initiation, the PNL was directed into two complementary sections.

  1. Firstly, as a process to discover the patterns that allow you to excel in a certain field, and secondly… As the effective way of communicating and thinking that outstanding people employ. The patterns obtained can be used by the same person and introduced in the modeling process to add value to it.

PURPOSE OF NLP

NLP aims to channel efforts to understand and organize our own successes, it is to reveal how potentially prepared we are for a given situation by unveiling, maximizing and expanding the genius within us.

This through providing the tools and skills so that people can know themselves and others, this, empowering the communication channels that are less developed so that you can tune into them, having a reprogramming of attitudes, being applicable to any action that includes from family, business and even phobias.

CIRCUMSTANCES THAT ENCOURAGE NLP

NLP starts from the following events:

  • Many times the sender knows what he wants to say, but the receiver cannot understand it, for this he tries to structure from human experience in its subjective aspects: what is seen, heard, felt, etc. is an attitude of fascination with people How they do what they do? Explore how these events are translated into language. It becomes an ability to create models: Continuously seek excellence in the world to be able to make it a model and take advantage of it. to produce results, either voluntarily or involuntarily. On the path of self-discovery, the opening of a gap generates that the techniques in relation to knowledge, learning and experience are deposited throughout the process carried out.

With the passing of days and during the changes that are generated by the incursion into the NLP, the bases built will be strong and concise.

MAPS AND FILTERS

In a world as biodiverse as ours, the way of interpreting aspects of life are usually very varied between one and the other individual. This can be visible and palpable both internally and externally on the person. It is undeniable that -from birth and as time passes- the physical constitution of each person is unrepeatable, height, complexion, skin color, the appearance of the face, etc., are a set of features that make us unique within the planet. Like and in a psychological way, each person from birth and in his genetic code, brings a process of information and particular psychological reasoning, which over the years and the repetitive introduction of data and concepts make it more complex and consequently different from the rest.

Regarding the way of interpreting and giving priority to life events, the human being uses filters of all kinds of characteristics and conditions. The information obtained from the environment is filtered in relation to the experience, culture, language, assumptions, beliefs, values, interest, etc., that are responsible for translating and interpreting it.

Once the filter is done, the map is established in the way the idea was structured. The map includes what is most important to the individual, which may be positive or negative, but that attracts their attention and interest.

There are positive and negative filters, beneficial and counterproductive, these depend on the person, their experience and their training. Thus, each human being perceives through her own map, a totally different concept of life, but that with the fusion and adherence of each one of the maps, the precise and deterministic coordinates can be established for the achievement of the objectives established by means of. of the Neurolinguistic Programming models.

PREMISES IN PNL

The impact of NLP on society covers different areas, it can be NLP focused on an interpersonal, work, family, educational, etc., but they all have one characteristic in common, achieving a change between the current state and the desired state with the use of the appropriate resources to achieve it and with a purpose or purpose based correctly.

The process of determining a model is known as “Modeling”, which consists of a way of reflecting on ideas and people.

The following six premises must be considered:

  • We all have the internal resources necessary to achieve the goals that we set ourselves. A problem is simply a poorly stated objective. There must be an orientation more towards objectives than towards problems. You must ask more the how? than why? There must be an interaction (feedback) against failures. There must be an attitude of curiosity and fascination (rather than assumptions).

LEARN, LEARN, AND LEARN

When in physics it is said that "two bodies cannot occupy the same place and at the same time", it means that one must choose between one and the other, but not both at the same time, it implies that there must be a set of elements to decide which one is intended to carry out the action.

It would be great if everything existed unlimitedly, but it is not. Everything has a defined capacity, computers have a memory limit, a car has a maximum speed, the stomach has defined its space when eating and the brain can not be the exception, it has a limit to store information.

With the mind and in its learning processes, in most of the times, and - usually - involuntarily, the cycle of input and output of information is being carried out constantly. We are gaining something and we are losing something, we are learning something and at the same time something obsolete we are forgetting. The brain automatically, in the face of the space implied by new knowledge, chooses from a host of information which one it considers unnecessary for permanent elimination.

brain or mind, it is not us, it is a part that makes us very useful, but the mind is not itself the person. The person is more than just her feet, her stomach, her lungs, or her brain. The person is an essence made up of each of these parts but that has an objective beyond satisfying a particular part.

The mentality decides and does anything at will without our consent, things that we later regret, things that we don't know why we did. This process where there is no control of us towards it, is called "unconsciousness".

The four stages of learning are:

  1. 1. Unconscious incompetence2. Conscious incompetence 3. Conscious competition 4. Unconscious competition

Unlearning is going from number four to two, while relearning is going from two to four with more options.

THREE BY THREE SEMINAR

If you wanted to explain and exemplify NLP, a three-minute seminar with only three actions would be enough to define it, where the director would start as follows:

  • You know what you want? Goal, there should be different options for:

o Choose.

o Be positively stated.

o Have an active part: it must be under our control.

o Specificity: knowing when, where, how, etc.

o Evidence: of the progress made and to be able to verify it.

o Appropriate resources: having the raw material for its realization

(With this we realize the objectivity for its realization).

o The size is appropriate, if it is large to subdivide it into smaller targets.

  • Are you and are you alert to the signs? A certain sharpness and assertiveness is required to identify the results that are being obtained and the way things are going. Do you have the flexibility to change? Dynamism is indispensable so that from what is being discovered and pretending to be able to undertake gradual transformations at all times.

ECOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK

Refers to the assumption of what would happen to achieve the goal. Part of asking the following questions:

  • What will happen if I achieve my goal? Who else produces this effect? If I could already have it, would I?

Next, the feelings of doubt generated by the “if but” should be considered, clarifying the following questions:

  • What considerations do these feelings of doubt represent? How might I change my goal to take them into account?

Once the answers have been found, the new objective is again submitted to all parties for consideration - the ecological framework is started again - to know that it is well founded.

Finally, action is taken, if the objective is clearly grounded, a first movement is made “the journey of a thousand kilometers begins with a first step”.

PRESENT STATE AND DESIRED STATE

A problem can be considered what lies between the present and a desired state. The objective comes to generate a problem in the present and that through different types of "resources" seeks to be transformed into that desired state.

The desired state must be something that we really want, that really motivates us to change, considering that it will be useful and will have a purpose. To put us where it is intended, NLP techniques are highly effective resources for entrepreneurship and change.

TOOLS USED IN NLP

For Armas L., Ruster C. (2009) there is an endless number of people who, with the beginning of each new day, with each new opportunity, claim the path and make the pertinent adjustments in their lives. Unfortunately, and despite the disposition on the part of the people, it has a well-defined objective, but it does not know the method and process that takes it in the right direction.

People want to do things, they want to improve, they want to forgive, they want happiness, they want to live, etc., but they don't know how. They do not know the procedure that implies this or that higher state of consciousness. As a consequence, the authors develop a NLP Techniques and Strategies Manual, in which the methodology is described through a series of steps that allow the applicant to move from the current situation to the established situation of interest.

The Manual is very extensive and extensive, providing specific techniques for vital aspects of human life, including: achieving a state of relaxation; achievement of a specific objective; combat insomnia; release of capacities; behavior change; harmful feelings; solution to problems; solve diseases; remove pain; the dependence; stress; limited beliefs; the Depression; forgiveness and rancor; the duel; lose weight and keep it off; and lastly, quit smoking.

For their knowledge, one of the many techniques proposed for two aspects in particular will be mentioned:

ACHIEVEMENT OF GOALS

In general, there is a lot of information that people have, it is a lot that we have heard and even we have spoken ourselves, but we have never put it into practice, they are aspects that seem so simple and insignificant that we cannot see the enormous teaching and how beneficial they can be for our life. One of these terms is "Do what you like" and its complement "Learn to like what you do".

We all have something in mind to do, from getting out on the weekend at night, to being able to deliver the report to the boss on time. Both cases imply dedication and previous actions to be carried out to comply with them. The only thing that can differentiate them is the opposite sensations and ´perceptions that each of them generate, while the first is of emotion and happiness, the second is tired and frustrating.

For the two examples, the purpose for which they are carried out is known: for the weekend outing, their purpose is to live and enjoy; while for the report it can be for compliance and a way to obtain economic income. The key is to merge both activities in terms of feelings, objectivity, importance, likes, etc. For example, we should reflect that thanks to the completion of this report, the position will be maintained and therefore the source of income that will allow them to go out and live together over the weekend; it must be made aware that both are equally important in our human formation, the report encourages responsibility, discipline, perfection and intellectual knowledge, while the weekend outing encourages motivation, happiness, fun, friendship and responsibilities.

The following technique can be used to achieve a certain objective.

SCORE MODEL

Objective: help the person to clarify in a methodical and orderly way the goal and its effects.

This exercise is designed to learn how to set a goal and clarify how to do it by identifying each step in the process and moving spatially over the marks on the paper. The marks allow breaks between each step for the person to evaluate and process what they need to do to achieve their goal.

The score letters mean:

S = symptom (present situation, what we do not want in the current state). C = cause (identify why I am in this state).

O = objective (what I want, the situation I aspire to).

R = resource (what resource do I need to accomplish my goal).

E = effect (if I achieve the objective, what is the effect or effects in my life).

And in a separate place in this sequence place the Meta paper, as shown above.

The Goal implies a position as "observer". It is a place to observe yourself and be in a neutral place. Follow these steps:

  1. Once the papers have been placed on the floor as shown above, get on the Goal. From there reflect on your current situation that you do not like.: I am smoking a lot, I have a very messy office, I have a few extra kilos, I feel bad without exercise, my son makes me desperate, etc. It is your current situation.
  1. When you are clear about the current situation that you don't like, switch to the S for symptoms. Live your current situation in all its facets; How do you see yourself, what do you say to yourself, what do others tell you, how do you feel about this situation? Breath deeply.
  1. Go back to the Meta position and from there think about the causes of your current situation. Eg: I am smoking more because of so many meetings, I have my office messy because I am not organized, etc. What is the cause of your current condition?
  1. Head over to the letter C and get in there with the causes you just found. View the details of the causes and see if you find any others. Breath deeply.
  1. Exit and return to the Meta position. Take a deep breath and now think what you want about the current situation that you dislike. What is the goal you want? Remember to take care of the language you use to express it. (See the first exercise in this module.) Formulate your goal and consider whether it is stated in the present simple, positive, and affirmative.
  1. With that goal correctly stated, go to the letter O and experience your goal in action. Think about exactly what you do first to achieve your goal, how you do it, how long it takes you, what's around you, what you listen to and what you feel as you carry it out. Visualize in detail your actions in this regard and how you feel having finished and achieved your goal. Breathe and INTEGRATE the entire process.
  1. Return to the Meta position. From there, visualize your objective and think if you need any special resource that will facilitate your journey. Find a resource you need to make it easier. Think of RESOURCES like discipline, flexibility, tolerance, determination, etc.
  1. When you have it, place yourself on the letter R and visualize your objective and how you carry it out with your visualize yourself accomplishing each step with your resource until you reach the end of the objective.
  1. Return to the Meta position. From there, visualize your objective and think about its positive effects. Define what contributes to achieving it, what value does it have for you, how will you feel? Now think about whether it has any negative effect. Does it negatively affect someone who achieves this goal? If you find any negative results in your objective, you will have to evaluate the part that must be changed so that it is positive for everyone.
  1. Once this is defined, go to the letter E and experience the effects that this achievement will have on your personal, professional life and the people around you. Listen to what they will tell you. Define your emotions Let these thoughts motivate you by taking a deep breath.
  1. With these feelings of achievement and motivation, go directly to the letter O of your goal and relive the process you developed to carry it out again. Review it in its entirety, with all its details, step by step. Take a deep breath and put a start date and time, and another to see the result. Get out of that space and get to work.

CAPACITY RELEASE

Individuals share a set of characteristic features that make us precisely be called human beings. We have them in different proportions, in some people some predominate more than others, as a result of the experiences and human formation that they have had, but without a doubt we all have deposited these traits that are considered "resources" when it comes to living..

On the one hand, positive resources include patience, tolerance, joy, flexibility, discipline, organization, decision, security, peace, tranquility, courage, faith, love and hope. among others. While in the negative resources (the counterpart) are: fear, insecurity, depression, aggression, impatience, anger, uneasiness, disorder, inflexibility or frustration.

Whether to go out or overcome adversity or to improve the conditions in which we find ourselves, the Self-anchoring technique can be used:

SELF-ANCHORAGE

Objective: install an anchor (gesture, movement) that triggers the resource that is needed.

Recommendation: use the anchor (detonator) whenever needed.

This exercise is very easy to install in the mind and extremely effective if you use it frequently. It is simply about being aware that you have the necessary resource when you need it, through a movement, gesture or tactile stimulation (pressure) of your repertoire of movements. A movement that does not attract attention, but serves as a trigger (anchor) to invoke or generate this resource. For example, touching your nose, lips, hair, putting your hands together, turning the ring, whatever. Discover one of these gestures that you execute spontaneously and use it to detonate your resource.

This exercise can be done alone, or if you prefer, with a companion to guide you.

Follow these steps:

  1. Find three situations in your life that have been rich in resources. Moments of happiness, joy, success, fulfillment, etc. Take time to look for them. Now go through them and select one of them, making sure that it includes some peak moment in your life, a moment of wonderful feelings and that it has been important or decisive for you. Live this situation again by rebuilding it. Where are you? What's going on around you? What do you do? How you feel? Live it, listen to it and feel it. Breathe deeply, once again represents the peak of the experience and select the most beautiful moment. Extend it and enjoy it fully by breathing deeply. Now, at the moment of greatest intensity, anchor the experience by making the intended gesture or movement and hold the pressure while experiencing the sensation, without letting go.Return to the present moment by releasing the anchor. Now check if the sensation persists when making the movement or gesture. In doing so, does the peak experience and feeling come back to you? If this is not the case, repeat the exercise to check if you really chose the peak moment, if the experience does not have any negative details for you, and if so, exchange the experience for any other of the two that you chose at the beginning.

The sensational thing about this exercise is that you generate a state of resources at the moment you decide just by making a movement. The secret is to do it frequently so that the anchor or trigger is reinforced by developing a schedule that is very helpful for you.

NLP IN THE COMPANY

NLP focused on the organization, consists of improving relationships between teams and departments both horizontally and vertically, improving customer service and attention, as well as establishing better negotiation with suppliers.

For José Luis García, “Companies in recent times have realized that personal conflicts directly influence working life and vice versa. The people who work in the company need to be well on an integral level, especially those who have the power to make decisions. During communication in NLP, what is said matters more than what is said ».

Thanks to both aspects: effective communication and interpersonal relationships can address all kinds of problems or challenges that the organization presents, truly becoming a competitive company. In addition to the fact that the motivation among the collaborators is reflected and improved, because each person is well with himself and with his environment, there are suitable communication channels and efficient communication, where everyone knows what they have to do and how they have to do it.

BUSINESS APPLICATIONS

Among the main benefits obtained from putting NLP into practice in the organization are:

  • Motivation and persuasion between colleagues and managers. Resolution of terminal and personality conflicts. Coordination of business and / or political meetings and meetings aimed at influencing programs or decisions. Preparation of interviews. Unlocking of negotiations. Establishment of clear and Convincing. Change of insensitive attitudes. Preparation and development of training. Applications in selection processes and real evaluation of candidates.

CONCLUSION

FIRULAIS: MAN'S BEST FRIEND

Firulais, a noble and friendly dog, was trained to fight with another animal of similar characteristics and overnight he has become a fierce fighting dog. During his education and training he knows that the only thing to think about is winning, since it is the only thing expected of him. He does not have the right to live if he does not win, the only way to enjoy and have a good quality of life is by winning and murdering, so he considers it and the world imposes it on him.

For lucky predators, their learning process will be gradual, their level of fights will be from lesser to greater degree of demand, however, for others it will not be so, from their first battle they will have an opponent so superior that they will kill them as a sample warmly welcome. For that dog that manages to survive its first encounter, it awakens a greater instinct of aggressiveness for its next fight. After countless battles and triumphs in a row, sooner or later, whether it be a dog with greater ferocity or favored by circumstances, it will end Firulais and if luckily he does not kill it, it will leave him marked for life

There are different types of incentives in human beings to go in search of growth, successes and external achievements (never internal). Talking about a possible brake, of staying to camp in the place of our liking, is generally associated with conformism and defeatism. However, the fact that there are no brakes in life, has led us to the problems that today are part of us. Greed, reduced as a desire for personal improvement leads us to live all the time in a battle that has money and vanity as two primary purposes.

NLP encourages us to be successful and to live surrounded by successes, but what happens when you have to face someone with a similar mindset? When the competition does not intend to lose or yield either, when they believe they are right, when they are willing to reach the ultimate consequences and the unimaginable just like us. The answer will be logical, someone will live and someone will die, but the effect on both will be the same, despite having won or lost, they will continue to have hunger and the desire to be victorious in their next meeting.

NLP covers a very important aspect to control this type of exorbitant situations "Learning during the process". This learning that leads to success must be founded and accompanied by values and a different concept of life. During the process, true friendships should be gained and not lost, things should be done out of love and not out of ambition and importance. We must be aware and prepared for when we are presented with the ideal place we can stay and camp for life in it, where we stop fighting and confront others and take the time to reflect and help ourselves, as well as to the people who need it through the learning achieved and experienced over the years during this process.

NLP, therefore, encourages a rebirth of what we hope to one day become from the present that we are currently experiencing. It is to locate the place where we are currently, to determine the place to which we intend to arrive and to build the path between the distance that separates one from the other. It involves rediscovering what we are capable of doing and achieving by providing the resources to achieve it.
