Concept of employability and incorporation into the world of work

Anonim

A brief description of the current gap between what companies need and the supply available in the talent market is proposed. Given this reality, the article raises the notion of the new concept of employability, capable of establishing precisely what skills a person seeking to join an organization should have, with special emphasis on soft. Taking these competencies to the north, it will be possible to articulate business demands with the needs of the population.

Curious reality draws the scene of Human Resources today.

Unlike what had been happening in previous years, in which companies reduced staff due to cost issues, today we see a healthy trend towards the opposite direction.

The paradox is constituted by data unimaginable in other times.

Specifically, today a gap emerges between the demands of companies and the existing offers in the labor market.

Locating possible causes for this would involve talking about the effects of previous economic crises; the absence of long-term educational programs; and also of the ignorance of those eager to join an organization, regarding the new sights of employers when hiring a new collaborator.

In short: the leadership structure of the companies knows that recruiting talented employees will allow them to have a human capital of excellence, capable of living up to the constant ups and downs of change, providing innovation and creativity. But assuming this challenge leads to a necessary active adaptation of the candidates to this reality.

The product of the difference between business expectation and available labor is important. It is true that some graduates of specific careers such as Engineering and IT related are constantly tempted to join the ranks of local and regional organizations. But it is no less true to know that many times the desire of entrepreneurs remains unsatisfied.

In order to shed some light on this panorama, it is interesting to locate the term "employability", a concept that was recently born and that serves to adjectives and identifies attractive people for companies, distinguishing them from those who are not.

Someone naive might suppose that a bachelor's degree makes a person employable per se. That is, perhaps, one of the main paradigms that this concept modifies substantially.

The relationship with the knowledge of an employable person is different from that of yesteryear. Whoever is seductive for a company uses the knowledge obtained in their training to apply it to solving specific problems.

Organizations need not so much diagnosticians as people who provide specific solutions to the task. Creativity, managerial capacity, the desire to learn, being willing to work as a team thus become the Key Soft Competencies to be successful in obtaining a job, and maintaining it.

People who add value to tasks simply mean that they distinguish themselves from a commodity employee and assert their full individuality. That subjectivity that makes us unique and valuable is our best tool to overcome obstacles and get not only the work we need, but fundamentally, the one we want.
