Tips to improve motivation in the company

Anonim

How do you get your employees to achieve results? It's quite a question, isn't it? And its variations: how do you get your employees to achieve more? And better? Or that they have a better attitude?

The issue is to mobilize people, influence them. But… how do you make people change their thoughts, beliefs and actions?

As an employer or company leader, we are generally self-motivated and do not need to be told what to do very often. This is great, however it can backfire on us as we lead as we expect others to do the same… and when they don't we get frustrated. So -so many times- we find ourselves saying: «How can I make them move?»

Most of us would have a natural tendency to respond, "Well, what do I pay them for?" We always fall into the belief that we pay them a salary to give everything, so that they perform at the highest level and that, in addition, they do so with a smile! Basically, we fall into the OBLIGATION paradigm. They are obliged to follow us, to do the work, because we pay them. Before continuing, let's clarify that this fact is totally true… only it doesn't work! Obligation rarely works as a motivator. And, even when it gets people to act, it causes the spirit to be cast aside. And, after all, it is our spirit that controls our actions…

Let me show you a better way:

MOTIVATION is better than obligation. Yes, by paying them they are obligated to you, but what really mobilizes them and makes them have a positive attitude is motivation. Motivate your staff! Never fall for "… because I'm your boss and I'm telling you to do it." Instead, help them motivate themselves. Here are some ideas:

  • First, let's note that the root of the word motivation comes from REASON. Give people a REASON to act. Teach and communicate with them, over and over again. Appeal to their deepest desires, show them why it's good for them to change or act… give them a reason! Second, reward your staff for a job well done. But I do pay them a salary. That is your reward! You're right. But you will also be correct when you hang the "closed" sign on your business door. A great management principle says "what is rewarded is done"… and it is true! Do you want results? Motivate them with a reward! Third, improve your relationship with your employees. Titles and positions lead us to obligation. Relationships to motivation. A person serving a cold and distant boss will feel compelled.A person with a good relationship with their boss will feel motivated. Finally, create a motivating atmosphere in your workplace. You can motivate people by changing their environment, just as you can directly motivate them one by one.

The Organizational Development of your company is closely linked to your personal development, your leadership capacity, your creativity and the knowledge of important tools to manage your resources.
