Four steps to redefine your personal goals

Table of contents:

I just finished my racing season last year, with great pride I can share that I ran a little over 1,000 km in the year, a long distance. At no point in my "profession" as a Runner did I imagine I was going to say: I ran more than 1,000 km; I had not considered it, much less thought about achieving it.

Given that I achieved this personal achievement, at this point I think it is very prudent to talk about redefining your goals, as I will do from my point of view as a runner.

At the beginning of the year, the spirits are usually up and then we can select 3 or 4 very clear goals to achieve.

First some questions you should ask yourself:

  • Where do I want to go this new year? What doors do I want to open in the new year? What dreams do I want to achieve?

The questions will seem simple to you, those that surely will not be, are your answers.

To define your goals, it is important that they are: clear, concrete, measurable and above all real.

I share with you some tips to achieve it:

1. Start with having in your mind what you want

If nothing limited you, what would you do? Where would you like to go? Imagine that you had the possibility of having all the necessary money, experience, contacts, education and friends. Visualize it. When you visualize it, you will have taken your first step, and the most important one.

Believe it in your mind and then you will create it physically. This has to do with visualization or imagination, what you can see or imagine you can achieve.

Once you have it in your mind, write on your paper as you see it. It is like the builder who, in order to build a building, must read the plans and thus ensure that the construction is well done following the original design.

What do you visualize for the new year? Don't worry if you still can't dream big things, start small. The fact that your dreams are small does not detract from their value, they are your dreams and little by little your faith will grow to start dreaming medium-sized things and then big ones. The important thing is that you can visualize the end.

How do you see yourself ending the new year?

2. Develop your strategy

How will you do it? That is, what steps will you take to achieve what you want?

If you already know how you would like to end 2010, the question that follows is how are you going to get there? What things do you have to do first to achieve your dreams? Do it in a simple and practical way; Make the necessary adjustments in your times to achieve the goals. Take small steps before you start taking big steps.

3. Face your fears

Do not sabotage yourself, help yourself, that your fears are on the side, do not let them immobilize you. Some questions that will help you are: is this for me? Is it what I really want? The thing is, if you really want it, you're going to go after what's on your mind. You must ask yourself what things do you need to change in your life to reach an extraordinary life? Do I need to take some kind of training or seek the help of someone else? What do I need to believe to win in life?

4. Get to work

The biggest step you should take is to become the protagonist of your life story. The main role was given to you by God. Take action and act. You've heard that when a movie is being shot, the director says: lights, camera, action. And now God says to you: Dream, Plan and Act. When will you start acting? The best time to do it is now, the best place to start is where you are and the best person to do it is yourself.

Your greatest motivation will be your actions, as you move you will see how the doors of life open for you. You have to push forward to have a great year.

There is another element that you know that will help you and it is faith, says the saying: "Faith moves mountains", and that is totally true, without it we cannot please God. You must believe that you are going to do it.

Final thoughts:
