With regard to the economic slowdown in Peru and the drop in sales that wineries have been experiencing lately, I was encouraged to write the following article.

In all of Peru there are approximately 250,000 wineries and 150,000 market stalls, 75% of them are managed by the owner himself, and only 5% of them become a business with a business vision.

In Lima the purchase in these places ranges between 10 and 18 soles and in the provinces between 5 and 10 soles.

What must the winemakers take into account to continue having a presence in your neighborhood?

  1. Identify your current customers and know why they come to your business. Know why some people come to buy from your competition. Is your store always well stocked? Is your store tidy? The attention of orders and / or dispatches is fast? Remember that there are 04 segments of buyers: the practical and hurried, the social paused, the information seeker (they only get to talk and they don't buy anything from you), the programmed saver. Studies indicate that the practical pilots go to the wineries, while the leisurely social go to the markets.

What must the winemakers know to direct their business with a business vision?

  1. Know 100% the rotation of your products. Know the volume of sales and profit margins by product lines, related to the rotation of the same. Know your competition in detail and begin to implement some mechanisms to attract customers of your competitor. Begin training in accounting, marketing, taxation, etc.

It is important to note that the winemakers and many small companies are the ones that move the local economy and therefore the national economy, despite the advance of supermarkets in Peru, the wineries and markets invoiced S / 15 billion in 2013 and close to S / 20 billion in 2014; This is because today in Peru the middle class reaches 60% of the total citizens, being the main engines of the economic activation of a people.

Therefore, it is time to train on their own and that various State agencies create mechanisms to support this important sector of Peru.
