Synergy and productive chains for the development of Chile

Anonim

Chile's growth rates in recent decades have undoubtedly placed it in a fairly high position compared to its Latin American counterparts.

At the same time, we have seen how the so-called "people's salary" - Copper - has reached unimaginable values. These high prices have led us to speculate about the future reserves that we would have in case of maintaining these prices and even if there is an increase in demand, speculations that lead us to think about the criteria that governments will use to spend these resources. However, it is worth asking: if these speculations show a sustained growth trend and if we could project ourselves into the future without forgetting the large reserves that have been generated in recent years.

In an international context, there are many countries that have surpassed our evolution in the generation of wealth based on the so-called commodities, understanding by commodities the gross raw materials with some degree of transformation through industrial processes. In our country, copper is undoubtedly our main commodity, where the best use of our main element of wealth generation, not only happens through the improvement of technological processes, which reduce production costs and therefore, the operating margin, but also for the integration that can be projected, both horizontally and vertically, where the effort falls on the continuous improvement and recognition of human capital, as a key element of sustainable development.

Then, by interpolating this reality “commodity image” of the country to what our commune contextually represents, we would have two elements that could constitute an optimal generation of work and a good time in life: forestry activity and the cultivation and commercialization of potatoes..

We have seen how the first and foremost of our commodities has been dominated in recent decades by large, very powerful holding companies. Nor is it enough for us, as a commune, to focus on the practice and promotion of a single alternative area, such as tourism. We have to diversify our product line in order to penetrate other markets.

This type of initiative has been successful in places like the Elqui Valley, where the grape production of local farmers is delivered to large companies that are the ones that generate other products such as wine and pisco.

So, it is worth reflecting on why we cannot seek these synergies in crop production and innovation, where professional and real support is effective when seeking penetration into new markets, with more elaborate products and under brands that ensure a maximum degree identification and reliability.

Finally, we must highlight the effort that the government environment should have, which, without a doubt, would be a great ally that can lead us to sustained communal growth over time, generating employment and economic security, as well as providing for small farmers and generating instances of training, aimed not only at getting the most out of their properties, but also at being able to get the cognitive skills to run a business administratively speaking.

In this way, we take advantage of our own resources to diversify the country's offer, building more solid provinces and communes and with a true contribution to the country's product.
