Culture and self-esteem. improvement tools

A necessary subject to address, in depth, is that of culture and self-esteem, and its influence on personal development. It is not always understood, in its real scope, the importance of these two factors in an adverse society to stimulate its integration into the existence of its members.

From my perception these components are important in the formation of a qualitatively outstanding community. Culture grants notions for our intellectual enrichment, promotes reflection, and makes better decisions by expanding our individual exploration. "Know thyself and thus you will attain true wisdom," said the Greek philosopher Socrates, a sage absorbed in the idea of identifying knowledge and virtue.

Scientific insights are valid for the progress of the community. However, the pertinence of studying defined contents of "humanities" that complete the education of the individual with aspirations to enlightened instruction must be considered. Here the love for reading is an irrefutable factor.

In his article "The importance of culture", the writer and journalist Ernesto Sánchez de Cos Escuin specifies: "Culture - as we are now understanding it here - is useless knowledge to obtain material goods, or to satisfy the primary needs of one or the other, and has something that has made it interesting for many people, now and in past times. This last characteristic eliminates from the culture the fashions so to the use, avoiding that the 'pokemon' become culture because today it may interest many ”.

Culture offers man the ability to reflect on himself. It makes us rational, critical and ethical beings. Through it we discern values, make choices, become aware of our reality, recognize ourselves as an unfinished project, question our achievements, seek new meanings, and create works that transcend us. In short, it offers the possibility of “diving” into our inner intuition and, in addition, it is an element of unquestionable improvement.

Good literature has to entertain. Through literature one comes into contact with a human, cultural and social problem. Literature sensitizes man, alerts him to certain problems, stimulates his critical spirit against all forms of injustice. I think literature makes man much more rebellious and anti-conformist. And I hope that my works have these characteristics and contribute to the critical and rebellious spirit of man ”.

Let's go on to define self-esteem and its relationship with this note. It is the evaluative feeling of our being, of who we are, of the set of bodily, mental and spiritual traits that shape our personality. This is learned, changed and improved. It is from the age of five or six when we begin to cement a concept of how our elders, colleagues, friends, etc. see us. and the experiences that we are acquiring.

Depending on the quality of our self-esteem, it is responsible for many failures and successes. Adequate self-esteem will enhance the ability to display our skills and increase the level of security, while low self-esteem will focus us towards defeat and frustration. High or low self-esteem - whatever the case may be - has a notable influence on our behavior.

The preponderance of the family is central since it transmits the first values that will lead the child to form his personality. Many times parents act in a harmful way and leave hidden marks that will influence their survival. But, there are also those who value their achievements and efforts, and contribute to strengthen the personality. It is recommended to make constructive criticisms, assume positive attitudes, trust us, conduct ourselves according to our convictions, improve sensitivity and social ability and, finally, accept your strengths and weaknesses. Individual approval is a central point to understand and raise self-esteem.

Some indicators indicate that the self-esteem of the Peruvian has been reinforced by the achievements and successes that we see around us. Acknowledgments to gastronomy, literature, sports, arts, cinema, etc. they are factors that encourage and stimulate us. The hope that we can be a successful, enterprising and hopeful society is reborn. In short, let us make culture and self-esteem two solid “columns” that allow us to sustain ourselves, firmly and with conviction, in the face of unhappiness and give us a certain look at our future.
