Decidophobia and its impact on the quality of the company

Anonim

Organizations currently require total quality models applied to their processes as well as in their management structures that guarantee their survival in the short and long term, which requires leaders with sufficient capacity and knowledge to not hesitate to time to resolve a series of situations where decidophobia does not jeopardize the direction of the organization.

Introduction

Total quality is a strategy aimed at creating awareness in all organizational processes, it is total because it encompasses all aspects of the organization and the people who work in it and is in continuous improvement, with the aim of achieving optimal quality in all the areas adding efforts to achieve an established goal in order to improve the service or product to be offered. Therefore, it is very important to have at the head of an organization with leading people, capable of making decisions to resolve unexpected situations and take control of the direction for which the organization was structured.. However, it is often the case that the leader person sometimes presents decophobia, which is the fear of making decisions, preventing the good development of an organization, thus avoiding obtaining total quality.

What is total quality

Total quality is continuous improvement in order to achieve optimum quality in all areas of an organization in order to satisfy the customer, through an integrated system of techniques, tools and training that will allow the generation of high-quality products and services. This is achieved with the participation and commitment of all those who collaborate in the organization.

For a total quality it is necessary to take into account the external and internal quality, the first is to satisfy the client with products and services that to achieve this it is necessary to listen to the client regarding complaints and suggestions, as well as taking into account the implicit needs that most of the times the client does not express. Internal quality is related to improving the company's operation by implementing means that allow us to detect and limit what is malfunctioning.

Main exponents of total quality

William Edward Deming, His main interest was the statistical control of processes forming a group with Walter Shewhart. I developed the Deming circle that took four essential elements for the process: planning, doing, checking and acting.

Deming offered fourteen points for the management and transformation of business efficiency, in order to be competitive, preserve its existence and provide employment. As well as seven points that I call deadly diseases of management.

Walter Shewhart, Father of statistical quality control, created the control diagram where his objective was to detect the variable that was affected by the final product, since he said that the fewer variables that exist during the product process, the higher the quality.

Joseph M. Juran, Developed the "Juran trilogy" which consists of three processes: planning, quality control and quality improvement, where he proposes ten points for achieving this.

Armand V. Feigenbaum, Edits a book called «Total Quality Control» in which he introduces concepts in quality that are considered to be the foundation of total quality that we currently know, says that the production department not only He is responsible for quality but also the entire company and all the employees that comprise it.

Kaoru Ishikawa, creator of the concept of total quality, engineer, professor of business administration and expert in quality control, contributed the implementation of quality systems, disciple of Deming and Juran, developed seven statistical techniques, control charts, cause analysis and effect, histograms, control sheets, paretto analysis, scatterplots and stratification analysis.

Genichi Taguchi, developed online quality control methods, incorporating statistical techniques that allowed them to eliminate impediments and solve problems from the beginning of product development.

William G. Ouchi developed the Z theory and concluded that the success of companies is due to their commitment to quality and that they work effectively as a team. Since they said that for the harmonious development of organizations, trust in people and of that same for the organization, close social relationships and attention to the subtleties of human relationships were necessary.

Philip B. Crosby referred to total quality as zero defects and that everything had to be done the first time correctly and I also include four principles where quality is according to needs, which is a system to prevent, standard handling to obtain zero errors and the way to measure quality is through customer dissatisfaction.

What is decidophobia

There are different types of phobias, phobia means intense and unjustified fear of an object or situation and it is an emotional health disorder, so decidophobia is fear of making decisions, this is because they fear failure and are often not responsible for their choice, blaming another if the results are not successful

The term decidophobia was introduced by the thinker Walter Kaufmann who said that the outcome of decisions depends on the qualities of the leader, who must have vision, ethics and drive.

The importance of decidophobia for organizations

Decision-making is important for any individual, be it personal or work, for some people it is more difficult to take responsibility for choosing improvements in the company and it is difficult for them to reflect on the problems that the organization encompasses, causing enormous uncertainty about those who work in it, which will affect the outlook for their long-term survival. This is why you should take the time to reflect and not act on impulse.

Therefore the success or failure of an organization or company has to do with a good or bad decision made.

Conclusions

It has been seen in this work that decision-making rests with the human resources that constitute a company in terms of the obligation to generate products and services of the highest quality, which is why it is important that in the personnel selection processes, their emotional health of the individual to detect early if they have an emotional health disorder such as decidophobia that prevents them from making decisions in the work area that they are going to perform, causing low job performance.
