Definition of personal purposes and their relationship with talent management

Anonim

There is a close relationship between the Management of Human Talent and the definition of personal purposes (The Meaning of Life).

The definition of purposes goes far beyond the definition of objectives, goals, dreams, wishes or desires; perhaps all of the above become the means to achieve them.

The purposes are "Our Reason for Being"; many of us have not yet written them or perhaps we have not given them the necessary attention, but they are deep within us, they are our intrinsic motivators, they are our source of inspiration.

The key to success is to turn the aspirational into the inspirational; stop thinking to execute, stop dreaming to wake up; This is only achieved when we decide to "Take the steps to achieve what we want"; Obviously we must first decide what we want?

Purposes are our reason for being, our reason for existing, they have nothing to do with our routines such as working to earn a salary, nor with our obligations like providing our children with what they need. These examples represent the means to achieve something much bigger, deeper, more intense.

It is very difficult to achieve new purposes when we are tied to old habits.

Old habits make us settle, conform, and give up trying. Improving habits limits our creative capacity; the search for new forms or means is limited by the practice of tradition and custom; as a natural consequence we give up the search or application of our talent, we give up applying our potential.

The gap between our purposes and the application of our talent is of mental origin; it is a gap whose hypothetical distance we define ourselves by basing our expectations on fear or faith. These two sources of energy are exclusive, while one limits our actions, the other strengthens our intentions and helps us “Take the steps "With the certainty that we can and will achieve it.

The application of Human Talent is a matter of KNOWLEDGE and FAITH; understanding by knowledge the inventory of our capacities, abilities, skills and experiences of application; and understanding by FAITH the “Certainty of what is expected, conviction of what is not seen” (Hebrews 11.1).

Getting to know each other and taking the steps is a very personal process; We can probably lean on some technique, some good book, or some good coach; but the reality is that it has a lot to do with self-discovery, self-realization and above all self-esteem; it has a lot to do with exploring within ourselves the foundations of our thoughts, feelings, and emotions; understand what motivates us, what we want to achieve, what we want to be; Discovering it goes beyond yearning for it; Discovering it has a lot to do with understanding what makes us passion, what without realizing it, simply by remembering or imagining it, it draws a smile on our faces.

Viktor Frankl, in his book "The Man in Search of Sense (1946)" highlights the importance of the Meaning of Life as a source of personal satisfaction, for the achievement of happiness.

The "Meaning" that we give to what we do, does not necessarily have to do with the "Meaning that we give to our life"; Often finding meaning in what we do is a simple justification for renouncing the true meaning of our life.

The meaning that we give to what we do, is usually short-term, it helps us to meet the needs of the moment, the demands of today's societies, fulfill our primary responsibilities and pay our debts.

The meaning we give to what we do helps us to “Live to Over-live” with a high degree of dissatisfaction and very little personal fulfillment.

At the other end; The meaning we give to our life is long-term, it is what is called “transcendence”, it is to go further, it is our legacy, it is what we will certainly be remembered for.

But in the existentialist sense, it is not about living to be remembered, it is about living fully so that enjoying the process, putting passion into what we do, our lives are full of satisfactions that will help us achieve objectives, goals, dreams, longings or desires, which in turn become stepping stones of a much larger ladder that will help us go much further.

All these objectives, goals, dreams, desires or desires, cannot be considered as an end in themselves; they simply become the means to achieve our purpose. (Business speaking, they are performance indicators - KPI's).

The Management of Human Talent is much easier to carry out, when there is a clear definition of purposes, when we find Meaning in Our Life. It is certainly a very personal process; it is a process that requires will. It is a process that begins with giving value to our talent and our potential, through self-knowledge.

The process is very simple;

a) Discover and value, what are we good for ?;

b) Recognize what generates passion and satisfaction?

c) Define purposes and the Meaning of our life?

d) Align efforts / Design the Life Plan

e) Take the step (ACT)
