It is useless to have a lot of knowledge if we are not able to develop and manage our emotions as well as possible. When a company goes through a selection process to find new employees, it is no longer determined that the most important thing is how many titles the person has, but rather that their psychological profile allows them to get along with their colleagues at the workplace and if their communication skills, allows you to have optimal contact with the organization.

We enter, therefore, to develop a topic of utmost importance within companies and life in general, such as Emotional Intelligence (IE), a concept by which an individual will be able to manage their emotions in a correct way and will be able to adapt very easily to situations of change that may arise not only in the organization, but in any aspect of daily life.

However, IE should not be confused with intelligence. There are people with very high levels of knowledge and skills, but they do not have the gift of knowing how to communicate with other individuals, and they do not have leadership characteristics or the ability to create a harmonious environment, especially with their coworkers.

It is necessary to exploit to the maximum those capacities that allow us to have better relationships with the people around us as well as with ourselves. By developing these skills, we will also be in a position to be true leaders, since the treatment we will give to our possible subordinates will be totally cordial, demanding a lot but not disrespecting.

But… how can we wake up and increase our IE level? The first thing is to maintain a good treatment towards other people and towards ourselves, always look at the situations in which we find ourselves with total positivity, express and defend our ideas while always being open to criticism (constructive, of course), having a level tolerance to possible scenarios of change and above all, face our difficulties with full energy and seek or create the best solutions.

Acting intelligently and managing emotions very well are factors highly valued by companies seeking the best individuals.

For this reason, it is not enough to have a high level of intelligence, understood as the ability to solve problems and develop useful solutions, if you do not have the ability to understand what others think and make yourself understood. This is how there are today, eminent professionals who are not capable of leading a group and people with a not very high intellect, but successful in their business and personal life.

When an organization evaluates a possible candidate for a position within the company, what it does is measure not only its intelligence, but also its intelligence related to its emotional environment, testing its authority and leadership capacities, its tolerance in face of changing or adverse situations, its responsibility and its possible handling of eventual problems.

There are many ways in which some people can better develop their IE than others. There is, for example, the environment in which a certain individual has developed, the experiences that they have had, whether positive or negative, and, very importantly, the education received not only by teachers but also by their family or friends.

We must, as we said before, look within ourselves for those aspects that awaken our EI and cultivate them so that they grow and become part of our life, which will cause our labor, family and social relationships to improve and be a characteristic and very characteristic important of our personality.

In addition, this will serve us well when we go to access working life, since added to our knowledge, there will be EI that will most certainly be valued in companies where we seek an opportunity to develop and improve our knowledge, as well as our relationship and communication. with all the people we are going to deal with.
