The development and training of a good manager from the persistence perspective

This essay addresses the leadership value of a good steadfast manager, understanding that a leader must not only have skills but aptitudes that are achieved through experience.

Summary

Many times we believe that leaders or good managers are born with these extraordinary abilities, however we have not analyzed or analyzed that their skills and attitudes are the result of many factors, among them constancy, that is why here we will touch on the factors that denote that persistence in the lives of those managers, which helps him in his training. This is what we will call this constancy in establishing the character of the leader: "Development and training."

Introduction

There are countless publications that talk about the qualities of a good manager, a leader that develops as a fish in water in organizations, that develops effectively; Also, many of the gurus hold theories about how managers should be trained, so we are surrounded by information that helps to train those leaders.

Malcolm Gladwell's perspective in his book “Out of Series”, a reading that I enjoyed given its amenity, allows us to know that many of the leaders in the history of the United States have stories in which their family, their values, their environment, their growth and development, the opportunities they could have as well as the successes and failures that arose during their training, that is what we will discuss in this essay.

Current organizations

For organizations to be competitive, a cultural change and a transformation of attitudes oriented to a way of being and doing more efficient are required. The process of change requires transforming resistance to change, which may be due, according to Kotter and Schlesinger, to circumstances such as: 1.- Personal interests, 2.- Misunderstandings and excesses of trust, 3.- Different evaluations and 4. - Little tolerance for change. Sometimes people resist change because it is a threat against their current habits and relationships. The possibility of future change raises fears regarding the lack of competition to meet new demands and the probable loss of models of quiet interaction. One of the strategies to overcome this resistance is precisely training, understood as education and communication. Innovative creative companies, with a strategic vision, exist when you have qualified human capital, since this means optimal use of the physical, financial and technological resources available to companies.

Human capital is of utmost importance, since it differentiates between an efficient and a mediocre organization. Traditionally, economists dealt exclusively with financial capital, to distinguish it from what is now called human capital; However, until a few years ago they began to consider education as a form of investment in human beings; that is, in the formation of human capital. In order to have efficient organizations in terms of quality processes, with competitive costs with modern technology, with a strategic vision oriented to the future, a professional governing body is required, which plans and manages efficiently, which optimizes the use of resources and maximize profits. For this to happen, it is necessary to form a culture of excellence:do what must be done and do it well.

Successful individual environments

Many of the leaders in organizations come from family backgrounds with different stories, different lives; from the date they are born, the economic situation of their family in the period of development of the country of origin, their friends, their education, to mention the first training they receive, are elements that forge their initial personality and that also include learning basic of how to behave, that is, their first skills and attitudes.

Leaders are the result of that initial training, many good managers have not been geniuses by birth, but rather had environmental opportunities that allowed them to have the space, training and opportunities so that they could continue with their interests.

That favorable environment allowed them to dedicate themselves to their activity and above all, to have the constancy and permanence in the habit that would later lead them to succeed. That triumph is nothing more nor less than the ability in the profession or activity that makes them different from someone else and that makes them leaders in organizations or independent leaders.

Desirable and necessary capabilities in organizations

When speaking of training, I clarify that the term capacity refers to skills, attitudes and aptitudes that a good manager or leader must have, but not to short-term training focused on a specific task of the organization that is hiring a manager; Therefore, focusing on the topic of the opportunities that a leader has had, which have allowed him to excel, it is necessary to highlight in an extraordinary way the training, practice or development of his or her skills that allowed him to be a leader that can be developing successfully in an organization and leading it to success, this is what Malcolm Gladwell calls “the 10,000 hour rule”

That rule is what we call Constancy, persistence, elements of success, which allow good managers to develop and, above all, a unique training in their lives.

Training of new managers and leaders

As we have seen, it is necessary to see good leaders as people who had, have and will surely continue to have opportunities that allow them to apply 10,000 hours of training and development using perseverance and persistence, so it is necessary to identify those leaders of the future from the rational perspective, that is, to understand that there are no good managers out of nowhere, but rather, from the reasoning that family, cultural, friends, etc. environments help and train them, understanding that there is a natural logic that allows identifying them, increasing the chances of success for our organizations.

conclusion

From a rational perspective, understanding that leaders and good managers are not geniuses, we have described that perseverance and persistence, achieve that with dedication, interest, enthusiasm and all the opportunities that are presented to them, they can develop and train as people of success.
