Information and communication technologies (hereinafter ICT) are embedded in our day to day; the advances offered by these would be ideal in the educational process. From this starting point, this research aimed to present a simple way to optimize the use of ICT in Education, reflecting on its background and applications that improve the quality of teaching and learning, offering technological conditions where the student or teacher who employs them develops their practical skills in the process of searching, preparing and interacting with Internet / intranet services. Methodologically it is defined as a feasible project type research, supported by a descriptive field research;where from the study and analysis of bibliographic references and surveys of the populations under study, it allowed to raise considerations regarding: use of ICT in education, problems in the use of Internet / intranet services by students and teachers, as well as the presentation of a web portal as a directory that would promote the use of new technological tools in the educational work and improvement of its users.as well as the presentation of a web portal as a directory that would promote the use of new technological tools in the educational work and improvement of its users.as well as the presentation of a web portal as a directory that would promote the use of new technological tools in the educational work and improvement of its users.

INTRODUCTION

The present research set out as a fundamental objective, the design of a web portal to facilitate the online information search process, to solve the deficiencies detected by control visits linked to the little use or ignorance of the main portals and national sites to which which are accessed in all the Connected Centers of the country and to Work Objective # 52 of the Communist Party of Cuba (hereinafter PCC). It was initially aimed at Basic Secondary students and the study was framed under the feasible project modality, supported by descriptive field research.

The population that made up the study was made up of the schools of the Najasa Municipality and the Basic Secondary Department of the Municipal Directorate, and the sample was made up of students and teachers from this municipality, where an open-response descriptive survey instrument was applied. These responses evidenced the need to implement the web portal that would facilitate the process of searching for information and preparing the general population.

It was detected that among the services most used in the networks of the Ministry of Education in Cuba (hereinafter MINED) is the use of social networks and Internet search engines that are not always reliable when it comes to the professional training of teachers and students in this sector do not show true information. The country has the necessary technological support, as well as national websites and portals that efficiently favor and enable the development of teaching-educational processes and the training of the general population. Taking international and national experiences in the use of new technologies, a web portal was designed as a directory, in which the informational behavior of Cuban society and its users of the MINED computer network was taken into account.

The design of the proposal focused on theoretical-practical knowledge that led to a greater and effective use of computer services and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the teaching-learning process within the educational centers linked to this research and others that over time and the results obtained may incorporate and make systemic use of this new resource already available on the website of the Municipal Directorate of Education (DME) of the Najasa municipality, I quote at the email address http: //www.na.cm.rimed.cu/dw/

DEVELOPING

Use of ICT in Education

In previous studies regarding the use of ICT, the need is defined as:

On the other hand, guideline 119 which calls for: “To advance in the computerization of the education system, to develop services in the use of the telematic network, educational technology in a rational manner, as well as the generation of digital and audiovisual content. ”As well as fulfilling the Work Objective of PCC # 52 on the use of ICTs and facilitating and strengthening in turn the systematic use of available information resources.

This investigation, after carrying out the necessary investigations and the theoretical design of what was to be achieved, became a project that would take the form of a portal or website that contains a directory organized through categories and subcategories of links that lead to other websites. and facilitate the location and access of users to the portal or website that may interest you the most according to the topic in which you are interested.

Once implemented, it allowed the creators of these sites and portals, mainly nationals belonging to the RIMED, to provide the structure of the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of any of its sites to be included and, later, the person in charge of the directory Review this request, the topic, objectives and originality of the site before the publication of your email address through a personalized link for easy identification among the other spaces that the network has in its entirety.

Regarding the use that the users of the site, these achieved quickly and easily:

  • Identify by categories or topics the sites in which they are interested and thus facilitate their location and access quickly. Streamline the process of overcoming and searching for information by not having to memorize the URLs of these sites and all being grouped into a single, easy Web portal use and access.

Due to its design and objectives, as well as the structure and functionality it has, it requires maintenance, updating and modification that will be carried out periodically, and it also has a person who reviews and checks the links it makes. Reference the Directory, as well as the creation or elimination of categories in which the available portals and websites are grouped.

It should also be clarified that when starting with this idea, it was initially put into practice as an Access Web via Internet Protocol (IP) at the Carlos Paneque Álvarez Elementary School, the Juan Vitalio Acuña Mixed Center and the Secondary Department of the Pedagogical Villa and is already published on the DME Najasa website, in which you can already see a preview of the first version of tests, which has a design similar to the Cuba Educa portal of the DPE for the simple and eye-catching design it has and its easy access and use by users who start working on the Web Directory.

CONCLUSIONS

In the short time of implementation of this Web Directory, it was possible to respond to the guidelines of the Communist Party of Cuba regarding the use of ICT in the educational work set out in Work Objectives # 52 and the knowledge and use of services has increased considerably Available by all network users, achieving greater use of ICT and municipal servers in the DME Najasa and in some of the Centers Connected to RIMED in the municipalities of Sibanicú, Guaimaro, Vertientes and Florida. Furthermore, thanks to the attractive design and easy implementation of the Web Directory and the growing motivation of all new users to use this platform as a point of reference when browsing, using it as a guide to reach the desired sites,This service has been extended nationwide with the support of the DME Najasa Educational Technology Group and the servers of DME Najasa itself and the DPE Camagüey.
