Designing a sql-server evaluator tutorial

Anonim

This work is titled "SQL Server Evaluator Tutorial" and aims to: Prepare an SQL Server Evaluator Tutorial for the fourth year students of the Computer Science program at the ISP Capitán Silverio Blanco Núñez. The product presented is fundamentally based on the program and the content that the fourth year student receives from the Computer Science course in the Database II subject, in addition to activities that will enable the student to exercise and self-evaluate. It is presented in the form of a Website, it will work in an interactive way, that is, the student will have the possibility to respond to the activities and obtain a grade that the teacher will be able to access later.

Introduction

In recent years, the use of new information and communication technologies for the Cuban school has undoubtedly meant some challenges and transformations. Computing as a means of teaching favors student learning, as well as being a great help to the teacher for the preparation and delivery of the class.

Research carried out has shown that the consistent application of teaching aids allows greater efficiency in class, that knowledge is more easily fixed and that information is transmitted in less time and space, in addition, this allows teaching to be more active from the conception of personality development.

One of the means of teaching that encourages motivation the most and is easy to apply is the computer. The use of the computer contributes to a better assimilation of the contents.

Specifically, in the Higher Pedagogical Institutes, the teachers of the institute itself and the territory must be trained to:

Make use of the computer as a means of teaching and as a work tool, in a systematic and coherent way, in the educational teaching process of the different subjects and disciplines in order to contribute to raising learning.

Guide your students to carry out independent activities with the increasing use of available computer resources.

Use the computer for diagnosis.

In accordance with the criteria of Dr. Torres Lima, the use of computing to support the work of students and teachers during the teaching activity, has had the fundamental objective of making acquisition more affordable, scientific, motivating, objective, conscious, active and enjoyable. of knowledge, preserving the educational work of the teacher at the center of the process.

However, the educational reality, the validations of the programs of the Informatics career, the groups of disciplines and the surveys and interviews carried out with students and teachers of the career have shown that there are bibliographic and technical difficulties in working with the Database II program, where the SGBD SQL-Server is studied.

This program has been analyzed at the Pedagogical Headquarters, therefore, different investigative methods were applied to obtain information about the need for an SQL-Server Evaluator Tutorial and its usefulness.

Hence, the following scientific problem has been determined:

The students of the fourth year of the Computer Science career at the ISP Capitán Silverio Blanco Núñez do not have a tutorial-evaluator system of SQL-Server that enables their evaluation, preparation and training.

For the solution of this problem, the following objective is formulated: To prepare a Tutorial - SQL-Server Evaluator that enables the evaluation, preparation and training of the students of the fourth year of the Computer Science career at the ISP Capitán Silverio Blanco Núñez.

Object: The fourth year students of the Computer Science degree at the ISP Captain Silverio Blanco Núñez

Field: The preparation of the students in the subject Database II.

As a scientific answer to the problem, the following hypothesis is anticipated: If a Tutorial - SQL-Server Evaluator containing interactive exercises is developed, then it will improve the preparation and learning of the students of the fourth year of the Computer Science career at the ISP Captain Silverio Blanco Núñez.

They are taken as independent variable: Evaluator tutorial system.

And as a dependent variable: The learning of the subject Data Base II in the students of the fourth year of the Computer Science career at the ISP Captain Silverio Blanco Núñez.

Dimensions to assess:

  • Knowledge about the Database II program.
  • Creation of tables applying the principles of Normalization that all databases must comply with. Definition of key fields. Establishment of relations between tables. Creation of simple queries.
  • Student performance level:
  • Skills with working with the database.

The main tasks that allowed organizing the investigative process are:

Bibliographic review on the subject under study.

Elaboration and application of the different methods and instruments for the diagnosis of objective reality.

Preparation and application of the educational proposal based on the diagnosis made.

Validation of the educational proposal prepared through specialist criteria.

For the diagnostic study, a population made up of all the students of the fourth year of the Computer Science course was taken at the ISP Captain Silverio Blanco Núñez in the province of Sancti Spíritus. The sample is integrated by a group of fourth year of the Computer science career of the municipal Pedagogical Seat of Sancti Spíritus.

During the development of research, the materialistic dialectic of knowledge and different methods of educational research, both at the theoretical, empirical and statistical level, are put into practice as a general method.

The novelty of the subject consists of the application of a tutorial evaluation system on SQL Server in the Database II subject for the fourth year students of the Computer Science program of the ISP Captain Silverio Blanco Núñez.

Among the most significant practical contributions are:

To have a tutorial evaluation system on SQL Server in the Database II course as an alternative way for the preparation and evaluation of the fourth year students of the ISP Computing degree Captain Silverio Blanco Núñez.

Ease of installing this system in the laboratories where classes are held as well as in the jobs of each student.

There is a teaching medium that will support the teaching-learning process as well as helping the teacher in the evaluation of the students.

Design of the SQL evaluation tutorial

Below is the proposal of the system created to solve the problem. Said system will be a website that will have the program and the content of the subject of Databases II, in addition to activities that will enable the student to exercise and self-evaluate.

Classification of users. Actors and Use Cases Diagram

For the SQL Server evaluator tutorial we have two fundamental actors:

1. Teacher

2. Student

Both actors act on the use case "Consult the subject program", this allows both students and teachers to see the essential objectives of the subject, as well as the topics to be discussed.

Students and teachers act on the “Consult Content” use case, they will have the facility to consult the content that will be taught in the subject.

In addition, the student actor will have the possibility to answer exercises that will help him to prepare himself. They can also get the results of their responses by contributing to their self-assessment.

The teacher actor may consult the evaluation of the students.

Validation by experts

The proposal was submitted to the analysis of experts to know the possibility of applying the evaluating tutorial system on SQL-Server and the characteristics that it should have. For this analysis, the "Delphi Technique" was applied and the Kendall's coefficient of agreement was determined, which had a value of 0.98, demonstrating that there is agreement between the experts, and a chi-square hypothesis test was also applied, which obtained expert judgment is reliable.

Conclusions

1. The design of the SQL - Server evaluator tutorial system was described. This evaluating tutorial offers great potential because the students will have the possibility to prepare and self-evaluate.

2. The design of the SQL-Server evaluator tutorial system has been validated by experts and the results have demonstrated the validity of the proposed solution.
