Order, a key habit to improve your personal productivity

Anonim

From a very young age my parents never tired of repeating to me that order was important, that it would change my life… and boy were they right! How to forget the calls of attention for leaving things out of place. How to forget, years later, those moments of despair, of anguish, such as when I “lost” my wedding rings the same day as my wedding… I inadvertently threw them in the garbage can, when I tried to order my disorder … “and it is than for the sample… a button. ”

I have to accept that it was very difficult for me to incorporate order into my life, but I cannot deny that it has helped me a lot to achieve my goals, to give firmness to my life plan. It was never erased from my memory when my father said: “wait for the day you have your children, you will see…. and much more". Let the first stone be thrown by someone who has not been disordered some day in his life…!

The truth is that life is wise, time reveals many mysteries and consciousness is activated sooner or later. Now that I'm a dad, it seems that my father's prophecies have been fulfilled. It is not that order appears overnight, nor that after reading a book you become a virtuous person. Nobody learns to swim by reading manuals, it is about educating the will and that tires and costs effort says the saying of young people.

As everything in life is paid, today I fight battles with my children (teenagers) so that they can see the order with good eyes, I have lost hair, wrinkles have accelerated their appearance… anyway. The truth is that the results are seen drop by drop, however I do not lose the hope that all this effort will give results as it happened to me someday.

But… Why talk about this topic, which may turn out to be one of those that is written so much in books and blogs? It is that order has a very significant impact on our lives. Reading Enrique Rojas I have found compelling reasons to understand what I already suspected. Order is more than putting things in their place, I remember my youngest son saying to me: but what does putting things in their place have to do with being a better person? Rojas sheds light on us when he speaks of order as an essential part of the will, which manifests itself in different ways:

  • The serial order (space, time, disposition, relationship of the past with the future). The total order (structure parts with the whole, hierarchize). The order in morals (ethical and unethical, prudence, strength, justice and temperance, faith, hope and charity.

It highlights four different types of order that affect thought:

  1. Order in the head: refers to having coherent criteria to withstand the "avalanche of the media"; It is one thing to be informed and quite another to have training and this is achieved with effort, he adds. The order in the type of life: it has to do with the organization and planning of our activities that alleviates the pressure that time exerts on us. The order in the form: it is associated with the external aspect, to which I referred to putting things in their place; clothes, books. It is the one that turns parents into caretakers at home. However, the author points out that seeking order excessively can have negative consequences, both for the person who persecutes it and for those who live with it. The order in the objectives: that helps us to carry out the purposes. It is better to have a few objectives than to end up dispersing.

In this fast-paced world of permanent change, order becomes increasingly relevant; contributes greatly to reducing anxiety, stress and thereby ensures a better quality of life. Let's start by ordering ourselves from the inside out; It is an endless process that requires patience and perseverance. I would like to tell you that it was easy for me to improve in the order, but it was not… it took longer than expected; what I can tell you is that once life is acquired it goes from being a black and white film to an HD format, that is how clear and sharp yours can be from now on… You already have the key, the rest runs through your bill.
