The fear of greatness. personal growth

Anonim

Have you ever felt the urge to take a bold step to do something you've never done before, but then feel your heart freeze and resolve to stay where you are? I think we've all felt that before. On the one hand there is that ray of light that invites us to advance, but, at the same time, we find ourselves surrounded by a darkness that stops us. Why? It is the fear of greatness. Find out how to focus that fear in order to overcome it and thus manifest your true potential.

Most people are afraid of being great.

They dream of happy outcomes and are moved to tears when they hear stories of heroes who gave their lives for a cause. Or they watch a movie of a nobody who emerged from anonymity to become the key character that saves the situation.

They want to be like them, but there is something that stops them.

I think one of the reasons some people never reach their true potential is because of the way they see themselves.

Some call it low self esteem or lack of self confidence.

I think they just don't dare to believe in the greatness that God has placed in each of us.

In his inaugural speech as President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela said:

(Nelson Mandela. Opening speech, 1994.)

Most people find it hard to think they are capable of more. However, it is not so difficult for them to feel inept and insufficiently prepared to face new challenges.

Why?

Humility or low self-esteem?

Many times this feeling is mistaken for humility, a character trait that is named a virtue in the Bible.

But in reality, it is a poor perception of oneself, a low self-esteem.

Did you know that the word "self-esteem" or "self-confidence" is not found in the Bible?

Is it because you are looking for your esteem in the wrong place?

When you cannot imagine that you have the ability to pursue those dreams that God placed in your heart, it is because you are focusing on your limitations. You are judging yourself according to your perception and that of others.

When your perception of yourself is very low, we call it a lack of self-esteem.

Instead, humility is based on obedience to God and trusts Him fully, His power and His provision.

It has nothing to do with not believing yourself capable of great achievement. It has a lot to do with believing in a great God who is capable of transforming our lives.

Unleash your true potential

David was very humble when he killed Goliath, despite the fact that his heroic act could be interpreted as an attempt at self-exaltation. However, his true motivation was to glorify God.

In the same way, when we stop focusing on our weaknesses and begin to see our unique talents and abilities as a tool that God has given us to fulfill a purpose that is greater than ourselves, things change.

We will not be afraid to face the giants, because it is no longer about us. It is then that our true potential will begin to flourish and we will be able to achieve those things that are apparently impossible to achieve.
