Fractal and mathematical management in the management world

Anonim

The concept of chaos is as interesting for physics and mathematics as it is for religion and other human expressions dedicated to responding to what escapes the obvious.

Both the Torah (תּוֹרָה) and the Christian Bible share the same version of the genesis in which it can be read that a voice arose out of nowhere that dispelled the darkness by creating the light, although similar stories can be read in other latitudes as in creationist expressions Chinese, Mayas, Aztecs, Moche, Toltecs and Incas. The point is that it is presumed that before there was an order like that suggested by mechanical and quantum physics (at certain points) throughout the universe, there was chaos first, and if theories are true, this process will repeat itself. constantly since it is estimated that after the hypothetical big bang the big chash will occur and vice versa.

Precisely in the search for the understanding of chaos and other physical and mathematical approaches, it arose, by mere chance, since it is known that the researchers did not intend to find such a discovery, what is now known as "fractals", a name coined by the mathematician Polish Benoit Mandelbrot and shared by the also French mathematician Gaston Maurice Julia; Fractals are geometric figures with special characteristics in which two opposite concepts are combined, since they are both finite and infinite. Simply explained, this is because the surface of the fractal is finite but its length is infinite.

To facilitate the understanding of the aforementioned, the graph can be used in the same way that its discoverer did through the "Mandelbrot Set":

Now, how can a mathematical puzzle that is extraordinarily beautiful when computers are used to recreate them be assimilated into management and, furthermore, used as a management tool?

To answer such a question, it is necessary to delve into the fractals, as it is known that they are geometric figures that are repeated in an infinite but ordered way, varying only in size but maintaining the central line that originated it, since its surface is finite and can be seen as a concrete body. and, if you like, uniform, but since its length is infinite, its reach extends beyond what is imaginable. On this principle arises what I have called the Fracto Gerencia or Fractal Management.

One of the most common and even mandatory requirements of strategic management that spread in the 1990s in the 20th century and in the first years of the 21st century is the possession of ONE vision and ONE mission supported by a set of goals and objectives to make them a reality, which makes no sense if the concept of fractals is standardized to administrative management.

The principle of fracto-management arises from the questioning of the linear and limited thought of ONE vision and therefore ONE mission, since plans are observed more like a tree branch with its intricate and capricious extensions, than as a straight line. or a pyramid figure.

This approach was already introduced in the book "The Grasshopper Theory" when its content explains the way in which individual dreams are to be observed, but in the field of administration and management the existence of multiple dreams and visions may be read in more detail in my book entitled “Inept Managers” when this topic is exposed.

But fractal management is not limited only to the existence of multiple visions within corporate strategic planning, it also contemplates the multidimensionality of the administrative structure and the infinite replication of the essence that originated its existence.

Until now, companies have only dedicated themselves to convincing their employees of the importance of achieving the only vision they possess; Although organizational values arise from studies of ideal behaviors and instruments are used to keep employees motivated, they do not necessarily understand and observe the company in the same way, however, it is possible to create a significant replica at scale and Consecutive that allows the company to express itself in a concrete way and, at the same time, extend infinitely. This is possible because the traditional limitations of the tasks and obligations usually assigned to positions and positions disappear and the responsibility for the processes is distributed in the same way as the musician who writes a piece on his staff does.

The management fracto suggests that the company must lose its stereotype and open up to unconventional schemes, in fact this thought is what made the visualization of the company possible as exposed by the Managerial Zeitgeist (1997). The company ceases to be an intricate wall where a group of people work isolated from the environment in search of an alien ideal, to become entities of infinite scope where each vision, each dream achieved strengthens their presence and impact.

In fractal management, the units that make up a company or organization are not the only replicas of its central thinking, thanks to a series of carefully studied processes and methods, it is possible to find a replica, at the appropriate scale, in each employee or collaborator. from the very spirit of the company, therefore, the mathematical principle of fractals is fulfilled; the company (surface) is finite, it has a business name, purpose and scope, but the impact (length) that the activity of its collaborators and representatives creates, in the scenario where they are developed, is infinite, if and only if they manage to align as exact replicas of the origin.

Note: The reflections and proposals presented here are my own and the product of my research in the field of administrative science.
