The right attitude in sales

Anonim

On one occasion, I was invited to give a motivational lecture in the central square of a city in Peru; it was a spectacular event.

Thousands of people flocked to hear the conference and have fun with our customary images projected on giant screens.

At the end, the mayor of the city, who was sitting in the front row, invited me to his office so that we could celebrate the success of the public event with a coffee and talk about future projects.

We were accompanied by the director of education, a couple of his trusted collaborators and his secretary.

Sitting in the living room that was part of the mayor's office, we remembered the conference and the exciting moments we experienced.

Suddenly and to everyone's surprise, we heard a knock on the transparent glass door, through which we saw a middle-aged man, very well dressed, with a tie and briefcase.

Personally, I was struck by its impeccable presentation. Then the man opened the door even without having received a signal of invitation, he stuck his head out and said in a safe and cordial tone: "Mr. Mayor, with your permission" and entered the room.

He approached each of us and shook hands with force but without violence, while he looked us in the eyes and smiled.

When he came to me, he congratulated me on the conference and said he was still very excited to have attended.

I thanked him and smiled because I thought he was a municipal official, while the mayor said nothing and I still greeted him with courtesy because he thought he was a friend of mine or part of my work team.

Anyway. If the man was aiming to enter the room, he had succeeded.

He moved the cups that we had placed on the coffee table and put his shiny leather briefcase and very well polished, then without stopping smiling he said to us _ gentlemen, I bring you something that fits like a glove at this time and with your coffee.- Then, opening the briefcase, he took out a smoky cover and said - I bring you to sell some delicious empandadas!

You can imagine the surprised face of everyone present, when they saw this impeccable and confident man selling us empanadas in the mayor's office.

Believe me. I don't remember if they were tasty, chicken or meat. All I know is that she sold them all. Such was his confidence to speak and the desire he transmitted that this man sold all his product. For me he is the best seller of empanadas in the world.

Before he left, I asked him: - Listen, I congratulate you on your original way of selling empanadas. But. Why does it if I see a gauge for much more?

The calm man and filling his chest with air replied: - I have always loved sales, I was employed for a long time until one day I sat down with my wife to think that we should undertake the challenge of carrying out our own business.

She, my wife, is an excellent cook and I am a good salesman, so we decided to dedicate ourselves to making and selling empanadas and you see, we are doing great, I comfortably support my family, in fact my two children are in university and one of them will soon be a doctor. All this thanks to the empanadas.

What a lesson this man gave me that day. With passion, a winning attitude and love for what we do, we can become successful in any field and above all happy in life.

There are two types of salespeople, those who work out of conviction, out of love for what they do, out of vocation for their work… And those who work out of desperation. Because there is no more work, and with this we endure while we find something better.

Think about it.
