The personal image in search of an identity

Anonim

Searching for an identity as a person is one of the current problems of young people, but it must be guided from childhood. Having a unique and independent personal image will allow people to be better, both for themselves and to improve in society.

The personal image that identifies an individual in society must be their own and not be imitations, since each one represents a world and has their own needs that are the result according to the capacity that one develops.

The image must be original to have an original identity. Without forgetting my identity of origin.

The personal image in search of an identity

Identity according to Erich Fromm is an affective need ("feeling"), cognitive ("awareness of oneself and the neighbor as different people") and active (human beings have to "make decisions" using their freedom and will).

Horacio Krell mentions that identity is the answer to the questions who I am, what I am, where I come from, where I am going. But the concept of identity also points to what I want to be.

The identity of a person is nothing more than an identification with oneself about who I am, where I come from and where I am going, but for this we need to accept and motivate ourselves, to be willing to accept myself as I am.

At present, young people are in a great dilemma when they want to find their identity, since they are bombarded by an infinity of information disseminated through various means such as: the Internet (in greater proportion today due to easy access to the network) and television (considered the second mother of children due to the large amount of time they spend with her); These two media are the ones that most influence children and young people today.

Children and adolescents are confused when trying to find an identity, a personality that identifies them and at the same time accepts them in society, since society itself plays an important role in making this decision, because it usually excludes people that are not well seen.

To be present in society as active people, they must present an image to the community, this image as mentioned is permeated by the different media, they try to follow people, idols, imitating them in most possible aspects, clothing, postures, way of speaking, ways of acting, etc., and without a doubt because that brings great problems for them because they are not "original" people and become confused without knowing what they want.

At the moment of birth we all have our identity as individuals of a nation, state and municipality where we are from, this identity nobody can take away from us is the one that by right we obtain by belonging to the country, the same right that is embodied in the political constitution of the United Mexican States, but if we can modify our personal image.

The change that we cause to our personal image, that is, the way we present ourselves in the eyes of society, will allow our own development as individuals.

The way of dressing, walking, acting, which is what people judge of the individual without realizing that what really counts in a person's image is how you act in society, how you function as a citizen, that you do of benefit to the same community.

People are usually judged with the first image they give at first glance, we do not stop to observe or learn more about those people, although of course not because they are humble people does not mean that they have an image little worthy of an individual Thinking and aware of their actions, however simple the form may be, one must have a neatness and respect his own person.

We are all unique beings, therefore we must be aware that we have our own image that we must discover over time, with the help of experiences that will form a unique and original individual.

There should be no copies of people, on the contrary to achieve change in the world we must be independent people who have a personal way of thinking but with profit and with a forward-looking look in search of an improvement in society.

My way of identifying myself with society will be by projecting an image of myself in a unique, personal, original way that meets my own needs that will make me a better person and the change in society will only occur with the same progress of each one.

We must avoid people cloned from other people, because in that way the world is polluted, if the original person is not the correct one to be multiplied.

As Martín Buber mentions: “In this world each person represents something new, something that has never existed yet, something unique and original. It is the duty of each one to know… that no one similar to him has ever existed in the world, because if there had been someone similar to him, his existence would no longer be necessary. Each person in the world is a new thing and is called to realize their peculiarity.
