This weekend I met a group of very interesting people. Most of them are regular golfers. That means that, very often, and more so in summer in the Canary Islands, every weekend they meet to play one or even two tournaments. Despite the competition, the environment is relaxed, and the rules of golf invite courtesy. Being surrounded by nature, and beautiful and well-kept landscapes, it is very pleasant. As in any event in Spain, food and drink are not lacking, so it is the icing on the cake for a perfect weekend.

Golf has been introduced as a game that is gaining more and more followers, and is becoming more and more accessible to more people. The reasons are various: Besides the need to be fit for 5 hours party, poses a double challenge: first with oneself, it invites the improvement on every shot, and peers; It requires many doses of humility, because as long as you go “too much”, the game immediately puts you in your place; And what is more challenging for me: the mental game behind it, that if you master it, it is valid for absolutely all areas of life.

To enhance this mental game, concentration "here and now" is essential: the day you don't do it, you're sure not to get a good result. This is why many consider it Western meditation. The advantages are remarkable: no matter how stressed you start a game, the more experience you gain, the sooner you leave the problems and the better you have fun. Therefore, it is a perfect strategy to forget the rush, the anguish and the worries, because if you manage to finish the game, you will have escaped from them, and you will have had a good time.

The benefits of meditation are countless:

Of course one is, sit down and in the calm state, observe the thoughts and not identify with them or get carried away by them. Rather, let them pass as if they were a leaf floating in the current of a river. eye! Do not confuse with leaving the mind blank, because that is impossible. That's like telling the lungs to stop breathing! It's about letting go of thoughts when they come, and not getting hooked on them.

There are other techniques, such as "Mindfulness", also very fashionable, which is another variety of meditation. It consists of being fully aware, in what we do at each moment, in the place where we are, without judging the experience as something positive or negative. We can do it in any place and situation: while we go to the bus, we drive, while we eat, or while doing sports.

As you can see, there are no excuses to start meditating every day, because even if they have sold it to you like that, you don't have to retire to a monastery or to the top of a mountain to do it, and it is possible to start with only 5 minutes, twice! up to date! It is a common practice of highly efficient people, so I heartily encourage you to implement it in your day-to-day life. You will notice the advantages very quickly.
