The question for the meaning of life

Anonim

Throughout our life various questions arise that point to the question about the meaning of life: What is the purpose of my existence? Why the pain and sickness in the world? What is happiness? How should I live my life? What happens after death? And so we can continue listing many other questions. These are questions that sooner or later demand an answer. There are more superficial or deeper… the panorama of answers is wide: there are religions, different ideologies, humanistic and materialistic philosophical currents, etc. But for each person there will be a particular answer, or better, the answer will have a specificity according to times, places and people.

The meaning of life, we can take it as direction or as meaning… in any way it is not written in any type of oracle or recipe book. We are thrown into existence, we are forced to exist, and the only thing we have absolute certainty about is that we will die one day. For a Christian the certainty of the resurrection of Jesus Christ opens him to a hope for when the final day of his life arrives… others instead of believing in the resurrection believe in reincarnation that are almost contrary but that opens the person to another type of worldviewSo also others think that it is impossible to know what is beyond, and others deny that there is beyond. In any case, whatever the motivation, it entails acting here and now, a position in relation to one's own life and in front of others, and that is what is important when facing such an elementary question as that of the meaning of life, since the answer will open us to a way of living life that passes.

Life itself is a project, it is a response that is unraveling, it is an option for one way or another, it is to hit or miss in these options, it is to hurt and heal, it is to succeed or fail before the complications that life itself brings.

The answer cannot be outside of life itself, since the question is about it, the direction of life is the one that is given and the meaning could perhaps be recognized on the last day of our lives when it had already passed, and all the biography was complete, the being, the personality was already full. We are not only concerned with the meaning of life at a theoretical level, but we are already engaged in that in the direction that with our options (more or less free and more or less conscious or unconscious) we are giving, it is a praxis that is develops impelled by the real, by the force or the power of reality.

Let's finish with Victor Frankl:

“What we really need is a radical change in our attitude towards life. We have to stop asking ourselves questions about the meaning of life and instead think of ourselves as beings to whom life continually and incessantly inquired. Our answer has to be made not by word or meditation, but by right conduct and action. Ultimately, living means taking responsibility for finding the correct answer to the problems it poses and fulfilling the tasks that life continually assigns to each individual. "
