The resilience

Anonim

This short article exposes about the ability of human beings to overcome adversity. It is extracted from the book "16 hours to Temper the Being", dedicated to Personal Development and Self-leadership.

"Resilience" is a concept that was used initially in relation to metals. It is said that it is the capacity of a certain metal to resist and be flexible to certain tests that were experienced with it, in order to verify the quality of the same and to recover its original state.

Human resilience, then, is that inner driving force that we possess; the “natural” capacity that each one of us has to be able to tolerate the adversities of life; to be able to transform them into challenges, into new opportunities to strengthen ourselves.

"Resilient" people are beings committed to themselves, who allow themselves to "control" circumstances and, above all, to be "open" accepting changes, since they interpret experiences as an essential part of the life they live; that is to say, of its own existence.

Let's ask ourselves the following questions:

How can we develop that capacity for “resilience”?

How can we discover our inner strength to advance over our own adversities?

Without a doubt, the answer lies in "self-discovery"; in starting the path to the knowledge of our Being.

This will happen gradually, as we get to know our own virtues or strengths; recognizing our weaknesses; fostering our talents and expressing them.

Essentially it is to begin to value ourselves and recognize ourselves as valuable; it is to forgive ourselves for mistakes and begin to see them as lessons learned; it is to stimulate the creativity that is in us; it is treasuring relationships with others, as a mirror of our own relationship with ourselves; it is allowing us to let our feelings flow without restricting them and to open ourselves to the communication of the heart, which is never wrong.

It is learning to ask for "help" and extend that help to others as a chain of love that is built and progresses.

It is laughing at adversity. Ridicule the fear of not being able to solve them. Humor is finally an attitude of positive thinking, it is the base or column where “resilience” is established (or our own ability to overcome all the obstacles that may arise in our lives).

By this I mean that the capacity for “resilience” is linked to the interaction we have with our environment, since in this way its development is possible. The better our relationship with others and we open up to sensitivity, the more understanding, support and respect there will be that will strengthen that ability to overcome adverse circumstances, improving our "response ability" or "respons-ability".

Being "resilient" is being a person aware of your individuality and identity. To really know who we are is to recognize our own essence in order to have competent responses (and decisions) to these «learning possibilities» (as we could call adversity).

Adversities test our "self-leadership." On many occasions, most of us at some point in life have hit rock bottom, perhaps without hope. Many times, too, we have heard that pain makes us become aware in order to overcome or get up from falls.

It is also true that our positive condition in life reduces the possibilities of "risks" in the face of adversity.

Faced with adversity, knowing how to make correct choices is being aware that each event is an opportunity, a challenge to strengthen ourselves. The inner light is what will make us overcome each situation, learning from them.
