The criteria of educational innovation

The innovative "good teacher" in teaching is emphatically concerned with how to improve his ways of teaching, he must go further, entering a process that occurs almost beyond his control: the learning process.

Learning is something very personal, it occurs within the individual, who is the only one capable of activating it. The learning process is controlled mainly by the learner not by the teacher. People learn when they are personally involved in the learning process.

An innovative proposal of education starts from conceiving the education process as a potential development process, rather than a process of information transmission. Educating is facilitating meaningful learning about what students need, not preparing them for exams, but preparing them for life. Learning has to be a bridge between school and life.

In these developing countries, as mentioned by Havelock Huberman (1977), that innovations as problem-solving processes in one system are found within another system, and that the success of an innovation depends on the ability to articulate dependency. Remember that the solution of some problems, arise in the life of innovations.

Of course, this means doing different things from what we do, abandoning the traditional classical scheme of lectures, lectures, etc., reproductive seminars, to see if it was understood or not, and simple practices that place very little demand on student creativity.. The student has to stop being the object of teaching to become a subject of learning. This also assumes a basic confidence in the potential of the student.

It could be said that currently most approaches to educational innovation agree that there is no single innovative model for teachers, but that there are multiple culturally determined innovations. Teachers have to convince ourselves that we are and nobody else is responsible for students learning.

To be leaders in our classrooms, we teachers must change our way of thinking, change that mental scheme that has been forming today, begin to feel important and stop feeling like officials. And an optimistic vision of education is essential to train students with mysticism. I could say that nowadays neither social networks nor a state-of-the-art computer or calculator will ever replace the well spoken word of a teacher.

Twelve criteria are formulated on which we must focus for a new model of educational innovation, these criteria are based on UNESCO's Innovemos Network and on those proposed by Blanco and Messina (2000) in their State of the art in Latin America, published by the UNESCO.

To be willing to be innovative in education as current teachers, we would first have to have an intention to do things, that leads us to carry out some classroom situation and that allows us to go in search of those long-awaited results, in search of a change that It deliberately aims to achieve as an improvement, oriented, under a relevant innovation path.

We would have to return to the novelty where the current teacher must take as something new some situation that favors an improvement with respect to a well-defined situation, with relevance, it could be any new or recent topic or situation, which is carried out in such a way that it arrives to be admirable for others, with creativity, motivating and interesting that encourages carrying it out and completing it.

The depth would have to accommodate it, this because it helps us to delve into the subject in detail, that is, to break it down, study a whole in parts, also anticipate possible scenarios, this because we must recognize that there are always improvisations, such anticipation would have to come at any time to attend to these situations. The systematization also plays an important role because it will allow us to generate contextualized information, which will serve as a basis for decision-making.

The diversity in agents implicit in an innovation would have to be those involved in the child's education or in this case society itself, for this reason we would have to seek the active participation of each implicit agent, who supports the teacher, in order to improve their participation towards an innovation.

A good teacher knows what he teaches and knows how to transmit it. If to that is added the ability to enchant the student with learning, then we will have an effective teacher who meets the goals that we all hope for ”, this would have to be one of the new cultures that we must begin to form. Let us remember the words of Gabriela Mistral when she stated that if she were the Director of a Normal School, she would not give the title to someone who did not have "… some enchantment". Seducing is the key to teaching and the best way to achieve results within the classroom.
