Standard of living and quality of life, where are we going?

Anonim

We are in a very brief present, we remember a past, very certain, but that no longer exists and we aspire to a future, which is sheltered between the clouds of the uncertain and the possible, because life does not stop in its path, it slides every time more quickly and the human being allows himself to be dragged without resistance, but towards where?

Companies strive, as their ultimate goal, to optimize their sales and increase their production, beat the competition and position themselves as a champion, but within that whirlwind, that hurricane of winds against and in favor, is the human being, who does not cease to fight to survive, in those strong currents that push it from one place to another, with the winds of new technologies, that run over everything when they arrive, that make obsolete what has not yet expired and bury the traces of an awakening. In that center, there is the man, sometimes oriented, sometimes lost, sometimes motivated and sometimes completely surrendered.

Likewise, man is subject to fulfill functions in all orders of his life, which are interwoven, and deeply rooted in his way of thinking and acting-The individual, like a consecrated actor, plays institutionalized roles according to the situation, the place and the circumstances, finding himself in the need to place himself within a status and represent dissimilar actions.

When we refer to status, we are obviously talking about class, category or level. This indicates where in the social or organizational space the person is in relation to others.

Indeed, it can be observed how in organizations, relationships are more between status than between people themselves. You talk from manager to manager, from supervisor to supervisor, from director to managers and others. Instead, the role refers to the actions that that individual performs. It tells us what the person does, expresses their functions.

However, ignorance of these categories also generates confusion, especially in institutions whose norms, values and policies are markedly different from the values of their members, generating an organizational chaos, since an institution is a configuration of behavior patterns, with a mission and vision, but the men and women who make it up, generally have their own horizons, and in this environment, racing towards competitiveness, there are two elements that keep men on the edge of stress.

It's about the standard of living, versus the quality of life.

The term standard of living refers to the level of material comfort, of comfort that an individual aspires or can achieve. The more you have, the more you want. Ambition loses perspective, enjoyment of work fades into the background or disappears.

This includes not only goods and services acquired individually, but also products and services consumed collectively, and in this aspect the mass media play a fundamental role, with their missiles of alienating messages that lead to a change of attitude in the individual. awakening in him the feeling of possession, wealth, and the objective of obtaining more goods, because apparently that gives category, respect and influence.

For its part, the quality of life is closely linked to the well-being, happiness and satisfaction of a person, which gives them a certain capacity for action, or a positive feeling about their life. Its realization is very subjective, since it is the perception that an individual has of his place in existence, in the context of the culture and value system in which he lives and in relation to his expectations, his norms, his concerns.

It is evident then, that the human being, almost without realizing it, ignores their quality of life, leaves aside the pleasantness of being and being, which undoubtedly takes away magic, joy and motivation from their work tasks and their life family. Consequently, only that which leaves a profit or an economic benefit causes emotion, and the other satisfactions? God knows. It is only at the end of the day, when sunset approaches, that there is room for reflection, however, it is almost always a bit late.

Emotional well-being represents the ability to control emotions, that is, to feel comfortable. People who consistently try to improve their emotional well-being tend to enjoy life better. Emotional characteristics that promote proper growth and development in human emotional life include the ability to effectively manage negative stress. People with optimal spiritual well-being continually seek to help others to reach their full potential.

In short, the fact of having a standard of living does not necessarily lead to a quality of life. It is man who must try to merge these two conceptions, because what is the use of clinging to a standard of living, when its quality deteriorates every day. Let's not let the ego guide our steps. Let us stop to reflect.
