Why is hazardous waste management important?

Anonim

In recent years, the life cycle of many of the mass consumer products and services has been reduced, generating environmental impact consequences. One of them is the considerable increase in the volume of waste generation, in addition to the increase in hazardous substances and elements in them.

In a developing country like Mexico, the inadequate management of industrial waste, especially hazardous waste, is of higher risk effects and proportions due to the capacity to cause irreversible effects on the environment and the community.

In environmental matters, it is understood that a waste is:

Material or product whose owner or possessor discards and that is in a solid or semi-solid state, or is a liquid or gas contained in containers or tanks, and that may be susceptible to be recovered or requires to be subjected to treatment or final disposal.

As at the beginning of any production process, the classification of waste is essential to minimize those risks that arise when transferring hazardous waste to a management system. This classification can be according to its danger, origin, state, etc.

Due to this need, various private companies are dedicated to the management of this waste; Ecolimpio de México has comprehensive environmental services and the necessary authorizations for this process.

It is important to remember that the responsibility for the comprehensive management of hazardous waste corresponds to the generator. In the event that it contracts the services of a third party that has official authorizations, the responsibility for the operations will be the service provider.

Do you want to identify if the waste you generate is dangerous? Check the list of the Official Mexican Standard: NOM-052-SEMARNAT-2005 in the following link:
