Character classification as a strategic determinant

Anonim

For a long time, human beings have been searching for ways to get to know our fellow human beings better, the character of people and their attitude to carry out tasks and functions are closely connected.

Leaders and their followers obey different behavior patterns and even their way of reacting and making decisions is in some cases diametrically opposite.

From the point of view of psychology, four types of characters have been identified, this does not mean that we are dealing with the behavioral paradigm, but rather that we have defined parameters to more easily identify the type of person with whom we interact.

Even though this topic borders on the fields of psychology, no respected manager has underestimated it for not being specifically technical. In fact they consider it vital.

We have already identified three important factors:

1. Character types are not the only patterns through which we must judge people. It is necessary to combine this classification with others to get closer to the truth.

2. Even when the classification is strict; it's just about extreme models; therefore it is necessary that we qualify our observations since the same individual can show combined characteristics.

3. The senior management of companies requires this type of information and considers it essential for negotiation and decision-making.

We are in the era of knowledge and our companies are made up of people, not machines.

As far as the entrepreneur is strictly concerned, knowing and applying the classification of the character of individuals is not only an exercise in ingenuity to spend a few moments of recreation. Instead, it is a powerful selection and focus tool.

We will then be able to know who is suitable for a risky task or who we can count on in the long term; It will even save us a lot of money in setting up the company or we will gain an investor by knowing how to negotiate in their «language».

Below we will describe the four character types with their strengths and weaknesses:

  • Motivating person: Your priority is to be in control. Through him, he achieves his goals; He is motivated by the freedom of action he holds in that position. They are lovers of the challenges that require them thoroughly and force them to make decisions.

Above all, they are characterized by being persistent. They are direct and logical in their responses and focused on the issues being discussed. They hate inactivity and wasted time. They consider it irrational not to invest their energies well and that sometimes leads them to be insensitive and impatient. They are usually inflexible and risky; that is, they overlook important details.

They think they can do it all. They do not fully delegate; They find it difficult to relax and neglect their private lives.

Dictatorship and autocracy are common mistakes but in general they are good leaders. They have initiative and are able to focus all their energy on the projects entrusted to them.

  • Influential person: Your priority is to obtain the support of others, to reach the set goal. They are kind, sociable, friendly and show themselves as very interesting people. They are motivated when they are accepted and recognized in society. They like to interact with people and often build deep relationships. They are enthusiastic and optimistic, so much so that they spread their positivism to the group.

On the other hand they are deconcentrated, they participate in so many activities that they can be breached. It is itself a time management problem. They confuse what is important with what is urgent and vital.

A slight or rejection can be reason for the influencer to react negatively; in short they are very sensitive to insulation. They tend to be good team leaders. They exploit communication. They enthuse and motivate the group. They make quick decisions and focus on success.

  • The solid person: They are recognized for their emotional stability. They are perfect followers and are indispensable in work teams. They are always willing to cooperate with the boss or leader to achieve the completion of projects.

Their main motivation is the affection and appreciation that is shown to them. Their concept of friendship is very deep. They are loyal and accommodating. They are recognized for their quiet, calm and peaceful posture. They work calmly and their decisions are not fast. They fear getting out of the routine.

They are very productive without pressure and in low voltage environments. They prefer to work alone. However, they are good mediators and integrators of new members.

They follow instructions well, know how to communicate, and have a talent for listening. They prefer tranquility in their life and will defend it at any cost; however their decisions are influenced by third parties.

  • The condescending person: They find it motivating to do things correctly, the quality of their work is their engine. Above all, they are orderly, careful, analytical and methodical. They find interest in the details, which makes them excellent information analysts.

They feed on experience and often work slowly in order to achieve perfection, their communication is acceptable.

The same caution and detail often make them timeless beings, making it difficult for them to meet schedules.

It requires a lot of information to make a determination that delays your final decision.
