Body expression in business management

Anonim

When we are born, chance deals with giving us differential antecedents: parents, a sex, a nationality, a religion or a culture among others. Therefore, we are children of someone in particular, we are women or men, we belong to a certain country and religion.

But adopt the linked social behavior that is derived from such local, racial, etc. traits. it is not an automatic genetic matter.

Said behavior is acquired, learned; actually, it is imitated.

The most primary human behavior is programmed. It is controlled by the survival instinct, it is thoughtless and serves for non-reflex self-defense. And most importantly: it is universal and transcends all living things. In addition to this primitive basic programming, the environment gradually conditions the kinetics of people (characteristic body movement), who learn the habits of their elders by copying them.

Therefore, being the human being a great imitator, babies reproduce everything they see others do. In this way they learn the mother tongue, or the body movements that characterize their sex, or the gestures and postures inherent in the culture of their environment. This type of information is not preprogrammed; it is acquired during the identity formation stage at very young ages, and it is continued for life. This can lead to strange paradoxes, such as that spouses end up looking alike, or that animal owners and their pets can suffer the same fate.

It is almost impossible to distinguish a boy from a young girl, except for his genitals. What's more, if it weren't for their hair being cut and dressed differently, we probably wouldn't distinguish them until they were close to puberty.

But, growing up, they become aware of their identity markers. These markers tell you what is expected of them. Each sex, each social status, each group, must adjust their body expression to the cultural prototype of their environment (gestures, movements, postures, way of looking, etc.). If you do not, the company to which you belong will classify your behavior as abnormal.

Therefore, each culture has behavior patterns that characterize it. Thus, what pleases some, bothers others. These patterns constitute a catalog of uses of non-verbal communication. These copied customs are as influential and conditioning as, in the complementary matter of verbal communication, it is speaking, naturally we would say, the language that is heard from a young age (at first not properly speaking, but only emulating without understanding).

Understanding, for all the above, that the human being is very ductile, and that our features, as well as our most fundamental principles and values are pure coincidence, it really has to be concluded that we are not, but we are.

It is worth reflecting on the following idea: in the same way that the voice can be modulated to transmit empathy and generate confidence in an interlocutor, so can our packaging be used in a conscious and biased way to achieve a sensitive and visual approach that generates proximity and emotional affinity, a dance of bodies in sync that facilitates communication.

Container, I say, because a body is nothing more than the container of what is inside.
