Role of tutoring in basic education

Currently teaching practice is not an easy task since it has faced multiple changes. This leads to the need to have more urgently the presence of a teacher who accompanies the learning process of their students and who is capable of understanding and contributing to the growth of their students. It must be clear that a profile that is up to the circumstances in the educational paradigm is required, and that it also favors the social environment in which teachers operate, without neglecting the great impact that it currently has the use of information technologies in daily life and especially of young people who are in academic training.

INTRODUCTION

This work aims to highlight the importance of tutoring in school students. In the educational field, different concepts related to non-academic forms of intervention are used: counseling, counseling, help, guidance, monitoring, some of which are associated with tutoring.

DEVELOPING

Tutoring can be defined as: "A set of educational actions that contribute to developing and enhancing the basic abilities of students, guiding them to achieve their maturity and autonomy and help them make decisions."

"It is a systematic, specific action specified in a time and space in which the student receives individual and group attention, considering it as a personalized action."

It is also conceived as a work of accompaniment and orientation to the student during learning. Tutoring is a fundamental part of educational training, which allows the establishment of an individual relationship with the student, therefore implies an individualized process of education, this creates a space between the teacher and the student in order for the latter to be attended, listened and oriented in relation to different aspects of his personal life, paying special attention to his emotional needs. It is a service that complements educational action; supporting the actions carried out by the different curricular areas and subjects in their task of promoting the achievement and development of the basic competences of the students.

According to Idel Vexler (2000) this has a preventive and formative character that aims to accompany students in their affective and cognitive development; having as purposes:

  1. a) Strengthen the capacities, knowledge and skills of the secondary school student to promote their educational performance, personal autonomy, participation in school, communication with parents and their impact on the social environment. b) Contribute to the improvement of their action, so that they have more and better capacities to attend to the priorities established in Basic Education and to promote the maximum achievement of learning for their students. c) Promote the gradual development of identity. d) Develop values ​​and social attitudes at the individual and group levels of the students e) Improve the academic performance of the students f) Develop research habits in all areas inside and outside the school g) Promote the participation of the students in the activities.

Regarding the teaching tutorial function, teachers always exert their influence, beyond transmitting knowledge.

Creating the figure of the tutor is a way of institutionalizing a part of the educational guidance action, if specific training is provided to the teaching staff, or existing psycho-pedagogical training is implemented.

CONCLUSION

The teaching action requires more and more situations that contribute to the achievement of the expected key learning, regardless of the study plan being carried out, for this reason it is necessary to have trained personnel in the tutoring lines, in which the teacher has greater bonding strategies, school-family-society aimed at strengthening the achievement rates of students in order to achieve their personal and social development, thereby achieving a good citizen with ethical and moral values ​​that, at inserting himself into his social environment results in a good adaptation.
