Introduction

It is no longer subjective appreciation but scientifically proven fact: the Mexican is not interested in books. Statistics overwhelm. They demonstrate with malice and advantage, without showing any form of clemency or loophole for the desired methodological error, that the Mexican (99.99 percent) does not like to read. (Sheridan, 2007)

Inspired by the wise words of this author and based on the task entrusted to us by Eng. Roger Estrada Ramírez, professor of the subject Probability and Statistics in order to verify that the surveys are a very useful tool in the ordered search of data with the purpose of issuing results of the same, analyze them by means of graphs and make them public.

Mexico ranks 48th out of 65 countries in the Organization for Cooperation and Development (OCAD) in terms of reading and 50th in terms of science and mathematics, reported the National Institute for the Evaluation of Education (INEE). (Mendoza, 2011)

The INEE reported that Mexico concentrates between 40 and 50 percent of the students in the low levels (40.1 percent in Reading, 47.4 percent in Science and 50.8 percent in Mathematics) of the OCAD countries, which it explained, means that they are not prepared to carry out the activities that life demands in the knowledge society.

«Mexico is located in a lower situation than that of Chile; better than that of Brazil, Argentina and the average of Latin American countries (LA average); and similar to the one presented by Uruguay ”, stated the INEE. (Mendoza, 2011)

The institute released the results from the 2009 PISA study or Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) applied to 38,250 15-year-old Mexican students. (Mendoza, 2011)

INEE placed Mexico below Chile, Turkey, Greece and Spain in terms of reading. In the area of Sciences, Mexico is below countries in Asia and Europe, Chile and Uruguay. (Mendoza, 2011)

The test helps to know the level of necessary skills that students have acquired to fully participate in society, according to the institute. (Mendoza, 2011)

But what is the situation in our educational institution? It is said that young people do not like to read or attend libraries or buy books, that is why we carry out this research.

Methodology

10 questions were asked, to survey 25 CBTIS 144 students taken at random, they were only asked to answer honestly, their reading habits, among other questions if they have bought or read books, the type of reading, if they have attended the library and its purposes for attending, as well as the benefits of reading.

Subsequently, the data was analyzed through the Excel tools, with which we determined the frequency of the students' responses to each of the questions, as well as the average, maximum, minimum and modes of the numbers of books read and purchased. in the last year. Surveys carried out are attached to this work.

The maximum is understood by the maximum value in a function. (Chávez, 2000)

The minimum is understood as the minimum value of a function. (Chávez, 2000)

The standard deviation or standard deviation is the square root of the variance. (DITUTOR), while the variance is the arithmetic mean of the square of the deviations from the mean of a statistical distribution, in other words, the variation between the values in relation to their average.

Fashion is the value with the highest absolute frequency. (DITUTOR)

During the interviews we found that the respondents, 56% of them attend the library, mainly to do homework, to read or make copies of books.

The benefits of reading according to the opinion of students surveyed in the CBTIS 144 were classified into three groups which correspond to having a higher level of knowledge, as well as learning, there was a sector of students who did not report any benefit.

Conclusion.

The graphs that we obtained through the surveys allow us to analyze this very important topic. As we can see that day by day we face many problems that affect society, such as the deterioration of our environment, crime, poverty, etc.; When analyzing the aforementioned information we can conclude that the origin of many of our problems is due to the lack of the habit of reading; If all Mexicans spent at least half an hour a day reading books that allow us to learn, reflect and analyze, we would open doors to new knowledge and the same questions that in turn guide us to research and to have a higher level of culture. In such a way that all Mexicans will be enterprising people, ready to exploit to the maximum the great potential of our Mexico, which without a doubt is one of the best countries in the world.
