Teaching innovation and the use of tics in university teaching

Anonim

In our current society with characteristics that are its own, this historical moment in which we live has been called a knowledge society, industrialized et. As some highly renowned authors have called it, because access to information and communication technologies (Tics) are in some way more accessible, well I would dare to say that tics are inherent to the person, in terms of that the subjects already have something to do with the management of tics, at least people living in urbanized areas, that is why educating without the use of tics is like telling a child not to play or like telling a writer do not write, the exaggeration is valid but in reality the young people of the 21st century were already born with Tics unlike older people.

In the same vein, the education of schools and even more so higher education must radically revolutionize their teaching in any of the faculties in which they are categorized, in the use of tics, to take advantage of the didactic potential that they offer us. teachers need to update around that.

This is an innovation in terms of education, the involvement of tics, firstly because it is something new introduced into a system with the intention of improvement, for which it can be categorized as an educational innovation, the implementation of the Introduction of tics to the university school system involves several things such as the following:

  • Changes in the role of the teacher Changes in the role of the student Changes in institutional policies Incorporation of computer equipment (materials and people)

As the reader will realize in the previous points, one of the key words regarding the incorporation of tics as a means of innovation is change, because causally when talking about innovation, change is irremediable, but I am not going to stop to explaining something that is too much, something as simple as explaining what change is, in itself explaining it is easy but its difficulty lies in its implementation but as Einstein said "if we want different results, let's not do the same things", in that sense I will begin to say what should change in the role of the teacher.

The teacher should no longer be the only possessor of absolute knowledge, but becomes a mediator and facilitator, who creates learning environments based on problematizing axes, as well as being updated in the use and implementation of these technological tools to work online classes in virtual communication networks with their students.

Regarding the change of the student, he must be more active in terms of the construction of his own knowledge, consider a commitment to his education, take responsibility in the search for the necessary information so that he can learn, let him be that passive student who gives everything the teacher.

Necessarily, the flexibility of the institution's policies regarding the incorporation of tics is also a fundamental element when starting the implementation of technological tools, creating short, medium and long-term strategies, translating its objectives into the times established in order to give continuity to the project, establish a plan for its subsequent organization of people in terms of their capabilities, direct all actions, monitor that these actions are being carried out so that they keep a control, the basic assumptions of the administration.

The use of material and human resources is essential in terms of material resources I mean the necessary equipment to carry out educational actions in virtual environments, in terms of human, all those people trained to create the platforms of web pages where Educational spaces will be held in virtual environments.

All these points previously described that are essential when starting the implementation of the ICT tools and to respond to these challenges, educational institutions must review their current references and promote innovative experiences in teaching-learning processes supported by tics.. In this sense, universities face difficulties associated with the flexibility of their structures. The keywords for future changes that link information and communication technologies and new approaches to learning are meaning, coherence, connectivity, synergy, alignment, and capacity for improvement.

Synergy is the collective cooperation towards achieving a predetermined objective, that is, that we all work in full collegiate communication so that we achieve the objectives that we as a school community set for ourselves, it is one of the aspects to highlight when it comes to incorporating an innovation, the collaborative work, learn and adapt.

The viability of the innovation must be based on the characteristics of the institution to which the technological tools are being implemented. As the first step to follow to be able to incorporate the tics from then on, follow up and improve it continuously.
