Abstract

We will do an analysis of the evolution that has taken place so our current developments in communication technologies for the benefit and linking libraries with social networks for different purposes, primarily to disseminate its activities, and other aspects of the library, through the latest in order to benefit users and library as a cornerstone of a society communication technologies.

Keywords: Libraries, Technological dynamics. Social networks, Diffusion.

Currently we live in a society reached by the globalization of the XXI century, that is why in the face of technological advances that are increasing every day, it is necessary for us to be at the forefront to meet the objectives set in every organization.

As far as this is concerned, libraries are the ones that occupy us as a fundamental pillar of our society; These companies are in charge of managing human knowledge, expressed in traditional (paper) or modern (digital) formats. Libraries are considered as companies; Due to the fact that they are attributed processes based on Administration of various resources, primarily the human, consequently the financial and finally the diffusion; It is at this point that I want to focus, on the last but not least "Dissemination" because as Librarians, it is part of the work that we are responsible for carrying out in a Library. Now, the company known as "Library"; offers us intangible services and a range of cultural activities that we are often unaware of,Due to the lack of dissemination strategies attached to the most current and modern technological means of communication that today are excessively used by society in general, that is why it is necessary to question and reflect on the issue raised here.

Since ancient times, human beings have created different ways of communicating with their peers, for example, in ancient times it was common to communicate through smoke signals, carrier pigeons, letters, telegrams, text messages, and we have even heard sometime the anecdotes of our grandparents where they mention the protocol to follow in the villages, when a call was received; it was announced through a megaphone and half the world heard about it; Nowadays, all this has evolved with the increasing technological advance that takes place by leaps and bounds. Today; Children, adolescents, young people, the elderly, without distinction of race, gender, religion, political position, status or other aspects, together they make a long list of users who browse and are at all times in the famous "social networks" and of course, how not? If we live in a society in which we have tried to transfer our reality to virtual reality, that is, the impact of technologies is such that everything has changed, from the way we interact with others to the way we perceive life, making the private something public to which everyone can access, likewise the attachment to technologies has become such that we could even judge that they do not leave us anything useful, but is this a really absolute judgment?…From our way of interacting with others to the way we perceive life, making the private something public that everyone can access, likewise our attachment to technologies has become such that we could even judge that we are not they leave nothing helpful but is this a really absolute judgment?…From our way of interacting with others to the way we perceive life, making the private something public that everyone can access, likewise our attachment to technologies has become such that we could even judge that we are not they leave nothing helpful but is this a really absolute judgment?…

It is necessary to emphasize about the definition of the concept of "Technology", a word that we hear everywhere, relating to it directly or indirectly, but do we really know what it is?

According to a Chilean dictionary of etymology of words, it mentions that it is a term from the Greek Tecné that means "Art" or "Trade" and logos

"Knowledge" or "science"; therefore, technology is the study or science of the trades.

"In general terms, it is defined as the process through which human beings design tools and machines to increase their control and understanding of the material environment" (Bravo, 2012)

On the other hand, according to the framework of the previous observations, it should be noted that in our country, the history of the Internet dates back to 1989 when the UNAM began an ambitious project in telecommunications with the installation of a satellite network made up of seven earth stations to voice and data transmission, the establishment of fiber optic links and the expansion and improvement of telephone systems on the Ciudad Universitaria campus.

In 1990 the Internet connection was made, the first in Latin America. Currently, UNAM is one of the most important carriers in the country and manages some 100,000 email accounts. (National Network of Public Libraries, 2006)

To deepen the analysis of this topic, I will return to a truly relevant point mentioned by Merari León Palacios, author of the essay entitled

"Uses and customs of the digital book through practice", in a section where it compiles information mentioned by different works; In it you can identify two classifications to define people; by this he refers to digital natives and digital immigrants.

In summary, digital natives are those who, within their innate abilities, consider the use of technologies; Compared to digital immigrants, as their name suggests, they are people who, although not very tech-savvy, are making the effort to relocate, move, and get into the dynamic itself. Charles Darwin already mentioned it in his famous phrase "The species that survive are not the strongest species, nor the most intelligent, but those that better adapt to changes" at the rate we are going, sooner or later we will end up joining this technological dynamic.

This time we will focus on the best known social network, called “Facebook” since it is classified as one of the most used social networks; located in first place with an approximate total of 1,550, 000, 000, 000,000 (One Thousand Five Hundred Fifty Billion) of users worldwide.

Making figures about the long list of users that we listed above, according to the statistics provided by Owloo.com, a tool for the analysis and comparison of social networks according to the results of the “Ranking of countries by number of users in Facebook". We can see that Mexico, ranks number 5 for its large number of users above the Philippines and below Indonesia, it appears with a total of 65, 000, 000 (Sixty-five million) users of which 50.77% are women and 49.23% are men.

On the other hand, according to the same statistics that this site gives us, at the national level, we can place Chiapas in the 17th place with a total of 1,200,000 (One Million Two Hundred Thousand) Facebook users and as capital “Tuxtla

Gutiérrez ”we are in 26th place with a total of 500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand) users but that is not all, the statistics also indicate that during the day, a Mexican visits Facebook 14 times, averaging 4 hours a day. These figures are truly impressive, and it should be noted that it is increasing, because future generations are a 100% digital native population.

Returning to the point of libraries as companies, it is necessary to emphasize, in the good relationship that they could have with this social network for their benefit, because it would be the watershed of a strategy to spread and promote culture, since reality virtual will require them in the not too distant future. Although it is true, the increase in visits by users to Libraries does not depend only on how much dissemination is made of it, because many factors influence this matter but this is a point that we can take into account to go forward and at the same time meeting the needs of users who require it.

Regarding the above, according to the results obtained from the survey carried out on a group of young people who regularly use Facebook, it is reflected that 88% want Libraries to have a page on this social network to know the news that arrive, the activities that are carried out, have a more personalized attention and make yourself known.

However, most of them affirmed that they have seen a common Library that has a Facebook profile on social networks, mentioning that updates or publications are not made on this site to be up to date, much less have a response from the messages sent.

In conclusion, we are entering a stage in which the population with characteristics of digital natives will predominate in the future, who in the not too distant future will have needs different from those of current users and the Library must be prepared and open to interact with the most current and modern communication technologies that may exist, with the sole and exclusive purpose of satisfying the different areas that are required.
