Disclosure as a duty of the researcher

Throughout history, the popularization of science has not been easy, it is enough to remember a certain astronomer, philosopher, engineer, mathematician and physicist, of whom we have all heard about throughout our lives: Galileo Galilei. He is the image in which the example could be clearer to show that this dissemination process has not been easy at all and that, without his contributions, nothing would be in the world as we know it until now.

Galileo fulfilled his duty to make his discoveries known, in so many fields, to the authority figures of his time, with the intention of making it known to the whole world, since without a doubt, his contributions such as the telescope and the heliocentric theory, of which Copernicus had already mentioned earlier, they defined the course of humanity. However, it did not go well for him to publicize his theories, he was censored and the story that we all know happened: upon receiving his house arrest sentence, he pronounced "Eppur si muove" (and yet he moves), which He showed that he is the example of a man responsible for science.

Scientific and technological dissemination is very important in our time, because in our country and not in a few countries in the world, education is deficient and so poor that unfortunately science and technology are stagnant in certain sectors and have little scope for all those who want to know these contributions; That is why dissemination plays a leading role, since thanks to it science and technology are made available to more and more people, even if they are not scientists; And this is precisely what is important, to ensure that science and technology are within the possibilities of more and more people, regardless of their academic level, it is necessary to make this disclosure ever greater, which even benefits science to call people and create scientists who make more contribution of knowledge.

The researcher not only has the duty to make it known in order to reach more people and make them interested in science, it is also important that the researcher has a great sense of responsibility, since science and technology are not topics taken at heart. light and which cannot be taught in such a simple way, it is not about making deficient scientific dissemination and creating mistakes among those to whom such information has reached; it is about giving complete information, that it does not fall short so that it can misinform rather than inform society. The world needs science and the responsibility of those who are already immersed in these disciplines to make it progress and more and more things can be achieved.

The scientific and technological culture of our country greatly influences the way in which this dissemination can occur; Mexico still has deficiencies in the field of research, we see that opportunities are needed in the development of research and for this reason there is the well-known “brain drain” where Mexican scientists have to migrate to other countries in order to develop and get a better Take advantage of their knowledge, since they do not find the necessary opportunities here.

Since Mexican society in general is so uninformed about knowledge, among them scientists, and it even seems that it is at a lower level with respect to education and science teaching; Scientific dissemination occurs in a poor way, because it tries to give in a digested way, since society in general does not speak in scientific terms, leaving knowledge deficient to those who are truly interested in science and try to know something with said scientific dissemination; which causes that interest in science and technology continues to be formally lost, thinking that it is not within their reach.

Many times the problem is not that science is disclosed, but that society is not interested in it. In these times information is available to everyone and even so we do not do to inform ourselves more about the things that surround us. Many of those who are in the branch of engineering and other practical sciences, even being university students, think that they do not need to fill up with more knowledge than what they are taught in the classrooms, but they are in error, that also slows down knowledge; Scientific popularization tries to reach people through adequate and literary reading in some cases, and we are failing to do so. Not for nothing are we recognized as a country of non-readers and that gives a lot to talk about so that dissemination is stopped.

Scientific dissemination is useful for those who seek to learn about different topics and later could be interested in science and technology in a formal way, it gives the reader an overview of what they can find when studying professionally, from the simplest thing that concerns them to the subject of science and technology in general. It should be conspicuous so that people are interested in these topics and later delve into it, if they want to.

Today's society can no longer get rid of science and technology, everywhere we look we will find them and they are a way of understanding the time in which we live; it is necessary that, being participants in this time and in this highly technological society, we look for a way to inform ourselves a little about all this. Science and technology are already part of the culture we have and it is necessary to know it in order to know ourselves as well. They are mandatory stops to read and if we wish, to make this knowledge something formal.

So scientific popularization is not only a problem for the researcher, but for the recipient of said knowledge, because there is knowledge about science and technology and many, but curiously few find out about it, few take the initiative to become researchers as well, and Let's not go too far, few are really interested in the problems that surround us. The love of knowledge has been lost.
