The relationship between man and technology

Anonim

In this essay we will talk about technology in relation to man, that is, by and for the human being, the advantages and disadvantages of so much technology available to man.

Technology is undoubtedly a tool that helps man to make his work more practical and easier.

But let's start by defining what technology is, technology is the set of previously ordered and systematized knowledge for the creation of goods and services.

Technology influences the social and economic development of a society, its main objective is the satisfaction of needs oriented to the wishes of the consumer (man).

Most of society uses technology in a "bad" way so to speak, in itself they misuse it instead of taking advantage of so many opportunities that technology offers us.

Computing stands out from technology, which is the science that studies techniques and processes with the aim of transmitting information to other users.

The first men, due to their needs to eat, dress and have a place to live, were looking for solutions to all this, in the primitive age men met in groups to hunt their food, they hunted mammoths and large animals that used their skin to make their clothing and meat to feed the entire tribe (today it would be society).

Primitive men devised their own weapons for hunting, they used stones, wood, etc. to make what spears are, in this way they could hunt and satisfy their needs.

Their weapons were rough and very hard, since they were unpolished stones, all this caused a boom in the evolution of man, these being the first weapons were the watershed for the development of those that were later invented, I no longer I would consider an invention because those that were really invented are those made by primitive man with stones, wood, etc. Those that appear after them are only modifications of the first ones.

The fire allowed to protect themselves from the animals and from the cold climate that was where they lived.

Pottery was the beginning of metallurgy. The cultivation of wheat was one of the main causes of sedentary lifestyle since that is how the cities were formed where the social division of labor occurred and thus new technologies were developed.

The domestication of animals, the invention of fire, writing, the weaving of animal and vegetable fibers, pottery and the cultivation of the land have been the basic inventions for the evolution of man, but what does all this have to do with the technology?

Technology is present in these inventions, technology at that time begins with the needs that human beings present and their curiosity to take advantage of what nature gives us for their own benefit.

Although it was not as we know it now, all that the men of the primitive community did was technology, it was their way of evolving and without these inventions, current men would not be as we see it today.

Technology has always existed, however I feel that the men of before knew how to put it to better use or maybe it was not as sophisticated as it is now.

Men of today do not realize that technology is increasingly in their lives and that they are even coming to depend on it, for example with cell phones, today most of the population has a cell phone, the telephone has existed Since a long time ago, however, it had not become as “indispensable” as it is now, but is a cell phone really indispensable?

In my opinion, a cell phone is so good as long as you use it, there are people who cannot be without their cell phone, they do not go anywhere without it and they even get frustrated if they do not bring it with themselves.

To some extent technology has made us antisocial, now we "socialize" through social networks, we no longer engage in a conversation if it is not through our mobile applications.

In meetings, people no longer talk and if they do, their topic of conversation is about new applications for phones, seeing what cell phone you have, what functions it brings, among others.

Undoubtedly the mobile phone helps us to communicate, but it is in ourselves to put a limit to so much technology.

Today's children no longer use toys, they no longer entertain them, they think it is better to have a psp, an iPod, etc. Although this is not the fault of the children but of the parents who allow it, I think that if we continue like this, society will go down, there will be very few people who remain people, with so much technology I feel that we even act like robots, all in function of an electronic device.

Although the technology is not only based on electronic devices, we also find it in a company, for example, by replacing workers with a machine, this became more noticeable with the Industrial Revolution in England in the mid-18th century and early of XIX.

The machines were replacing the labor force little by little, this caused a very high level of unemployment because the machines did the work of the workers, so the companies thinking only of their production and their profits it was better for them to have a machine that did not work. demands salary and can work excessively.

They do not have to pay a machine a salary or a salary, the machine is only programmed and it can work alone, so companies began to discard the employees they had to spare, keeping only those really necessary and those who were trained to handle those kinds of machines.

In reality, the human essence is being lost, because we do everything with a single click or we do not need much effort to do certain things but rather all of them.

As mentioned above, technology is a great tool that serves many things and it is not that it is entirely bad but that we men are the ones who use it to hurt someone or to become mediocre.

There are both disadvantages and advantages and not everything is bad, it is simply the way we use it, this is where people's culture is, because we human beings have the ability to discern what is good and what is not for us themselves.

Among the advantages of technology is that thanks to it, society developed and made us more rational and creative to be able to create things that could not have happened before.

Technology is not only used to satisfy the needs of man but is also used for the common welfare, that is, not only to fulfill some individual desire but to help other people, a clear example of this social welfare is medicine, in Medicine deals with technology as each time with the passage of time the great scientists are developing new medicines for the cure of diseases that previously could be said that they had no cure.

Just as there are good uses in technology, it has also been used to attack man himself, as well as bombs and firearms, today they are no longer used in self-defense (weapons) but are also used for self-defense. revenge and hatred in a society.

And after all this… Is technology the cause of so much violence and conformity in people?

The answer will depend on the point of view that each person has, in this essay I will express my opinion about the technology.

In my opinion, technology is not what causes violence, because, although it is true that violence has persisted for a long time, it was not widely known, that is where technology comes in, with it we can find out what it is just by searching and thus finding out what is happening anywhere in the world (focusing on the internet and computers).

Although now there is also violence in technology (cyber bullying) but I do not see it as violence, but maybe a way of expressing oneself obvious without harming others in order to cause serious harm.

Regarding that if technology is the cause of conformism in society this time I agree with that position, since having so many machines available that can now do whatever we want with the move of a finger.

People abuse this technology and use it to sit around all day and control whatever they want with just a few buttons.

I think that if they make us more and more conformist because with the passage of time we will not care what happens with our society or our country because we will be involved in our "technology" that we will ignore what happens with others.

Technology also creates competition, since for example in a company if it has a plasma television, the competitor company will want to have a better one to attract the attention of customers and take them away from the other company.

It tries to improve the quality of things so that over time the new creations become better and better so that they are used to the maximum in order to obtain a social welfare.

Technology emerged as a way to improve oneself, that is, to improve oneself to achieve progress for humanity.

The evolution of technology will always be on the rise, a clear example is when the first cell phone was created, it was large, the sound quality was low, it had no camera, it was with a single color, heavy and with a battery that lasted little, in I change now the cell phones are small, light, with a camera, the battery lasts longer, they are in color, they have more aesthetics, and not only do they allow us to send messages or make calls but they also serve to download files, download music, upload photos to different social media, etc.

Such a peculiar example about technology is when they began with the censuses, that of the United States in 1890, they did it but to pass the data to sheets, years passed and they did not end when the next census was approaching, so they began with the cards perforated to be able to enter the information and data they needed to record the census.

These cards allowed data collection to be faster and more agile so that the censuses could be captured and transmitted in a faster and more concrete way.

According to statistics, social, economic and political change has not evolved as much as technological change.

A graph is shown in the following image.

The relationship between man and technology

As a conclusion, it can be seen that technology is as good as bad according to the practical uses of it by human beings.

The excessive use of technologies has deteriorated the thinking capacity of the individual making him conformist and think less, that is, with so much technology man no longer worries about thinking and devising some solution to his problems.

I think the example of the use of scientific calculators in high school is right, in my opinion that is wrong because in high school is when we learn to solve logical-mathematical problems.

We must do it without a calculator so that our brain thinks and looks for the appropriate solution to the problem, it is the same when we are learning to take the square root there is a procedure to obtain it manually, so to speak, however some teachers allow the use of a calculator.

This results in children becoming lazy and feeling that they have everything done, their mind becomes lazy because they are not thinking, they only mark the keys they memorized to obtain a result, but they do not know how to do it step by step.

Everything in excess is bad and technology is no exception, if we spend it on a computer all day, the time will come when even if we are not doing homework or researching something productive we will not want to move because it becomes essential to be in the computer doing nothing.

I put the example of the computer or the cell phone because it is what is seen more frequently in the population right now.

Another very common is the escalator in shopping centers or squares, having escalators more than aesthetics is to make people walk less who go to those places.

People prefer to go up those stairs than to strain a little and go up the stairs that are not electric.

Leaving behind the disadvantages or the bad of technology, we will move on to the good part and the advantages it has:

  • It provides us with information Less effort when carrying out a task Lower cost means of communication Treating diseases Saving time

Technology is not bad, it is only knowing how to use it, that is why a better culture must be created on this issue so that people do not let themselves be influenced or not carried away by society and also by the media, it is better to share with the real and live people that through a computer, will never be the same communication that is had with someone face to face than through the internet or the cell phone.

And this is how it is said that technology is by and for man.
