Neuro-linguistic programming applications

Anonim

Within the area of psychology we can find many branches of study and various doctrines that will help us understand them in a better way. Entering any of these branches of study, it will be inevitable that we find various tools, techniques, methodologies, among others, that will serve to enter the mind of an individual, or that of several when working with various groups, and how All the tools of the different areas of the study, there will always be some that fit better than others, always depending on who uses them.

There is a tool in this vast world that is psychology called Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which is based on various techniques of excellence, whose main objective is for an individual or group of individuals to achieve both personal excellence. as a professional, as well as other aspects of their lives that will help them become better people.

It should be noted that Neurolinguistic Programming is not only used for people who dedicate themselves entirely to health-related topics, but that any individual, regardless of the field they are in, can make use of this tool, in order to enhance their skills both work and personal, you can also understand other patterns of behavior that are beneficial to your health and make you more proactive. When speaking of NLP in this way, it is not meant that the rest of the tools are not useful or are not used, but that this particular technique, which many specialists point out as art through practice, wants to use all that agglomerate of positive methodologies, and exploit them.

Key concepts

To facilitate the reading process on the topic "Neuro-linguistic programming and its effect on decision-making", some definitions that are considered important for the reader to know are cited:

Programming

“It is the action and effect of programming. It refers to devising and ordering the actions that will be carried out within the framework of a project; to the announcement of the parts that make up an act or show. ” (Porto & Gardey, 2009)

Neuro

"Prefix and suffix element of Greek origin that enters the formation of nouns and adjectives with the meaning of" nerve "or" nervous system. " (Oxford, 2018).

Linguistics

"It is the scientific study of both the structure of natural languages and related aspects as well as their historical evolution, their internal structure and the knowledge that speakers have of their own language." (Wikipedia, 2018)

Neuro-Linguistic Programming

"Communication model that focuses on identifying and using thought models that influence a person's behavior as a way to improve the quality and effectiveness of life." Steve Bavister and Amanda Vickers (2014) cited by (Durán, 2018).

Origin of Neurolinguistic Programming.

Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) came to light thanks to a joint project by a group of brilliant minds, which consisted of John Grinder (linguistics guru) and Richard Bandler (mathematics guru and Gestalt therapist) and a team of students, which was made up of Robert Dilts, Judith DeLozier, Leslie Cameron and David Gordon; its main objective was to identify, analyze and study different explicit models of human excellence.

They were able to generate this model as a result of the analysis of the operating patterns of three of the best therapists of those years: Virginia Satir, who is identified as the number one family therapist of recent times, Fritz Perls, who is the one who created the Gestalt therapy that it helps people to reach their maximum development, and finally, there was Dr. Milton H. Erickson, who is the main guru on contemporary hypnosis. These geniuses of current therapy had certain patterns in common that allowed them to stand out in a very particular way compared to the rest of their peers.

John Grinder and Richard Bandler managed to adjust these shared patterns and began to offer them as their own learning model.

In their first text, which was jointly written by Grinder and Bandler, which was titled as the structure of magic (1975), he focused on pointing out such verbal and behavioral patterns of the therapists mentioned above.

Fritz Perls.

He was the creator of Gestalt therapy, and founder of the Lake Cowichan Gestalt Institute.

The German concept "Gestalt" does not have a unique meaning in Spanish since its interpretation can refer to: A set, arrangement, shape, image, lack, model, distribution, among others, Gestalt psychotherapy falls within the advocated humanist trend and is responsible for closing or solving deferred issues.

Virginia Satir.

She was a family therapist with international fame, one of the first who dared to delve into the area of family systemic theory.

The various perceptual approaches are highly necessary alike, the question is to understand how to interact with each other freely, an individual stranded in the first will be a selfish "monster", an individual who is constantly in the second will be highly influenced by the people in their environment, and an individual who is usually in the third, will only observe distant from life.

Gregory Bateson.

A specialist in social sciences and anthropology, co-author with psychiatrist Jurgen Ruesch of the paper Communication: The Social Matrix of Psichiatry.

Neurolinguistic Programming indicates to us that what we do throughout our existence is established by the way we communicate with ourselves, especially with what we communicate to our memory unconsciously.

Milton Erickson.

He was the founder of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis and one of the best known and most respected psychiatrists in the current age in which we live.

Improving a patient's health during a trance state is one of the longest-running practices in medicine. There are even various indications that the caveman came to carry out this practice. He always believed that trance and miracle cures were founded on a religious origin.

Once the study was prepared, John Grinder and Richard Bandler created techniques of their own to identify this model and decided to give the title to their creation of "Neurolinguistic Programming", which stipulates the relationship between the mind, language and the organism.

In the years after the creation of your technique, Neuro-Linguistic Programming has generated different and very important tools and methodologies, which aim to improve communication and promote change, all in a highly varied professional environment that contains consulting, psychotherapy, health, leadership, among others.

Pillars of neurolinguistic programming.

According to (Dynamic Disclosure, 2017) the neurolinguistic programming is based on four pillars that shape this powerful tool, which are:

Rapport or rapport.

The rapport is the main characteristic that we must keep in mind for all the communication and change process carried out in NLP.

It is a concept that comes from clinical hypnosis, which is used to designate the harmonious and intense relationship that arises from the hypnotizing individual and the one who receives hypnosis, where both will go at the same rate. But in a more superficial way, rapport means the solidary relationship or rapport that is instituted between two individuals.

It is understood that in order to get the information that the individual with whom we are going to work will give us, we must be in the "same channel" with him, for which reason it will be of vital importance to forge a pleasant and solid rapport. In order for our listener to feel in a comfort zone, accepted, listened to and understood, we must adjust to him in the shortest possible time, and with that goal we will cordially and with all kinds of his movements, his rhythm to breathe, the gestures he makes, try to match his tone of voice, the speed at which he speaks, his posture, among others, with great insight and that he never feels that we are offending him or trying to make fun of us. Experts on this topic point out that this ability to mimic exactly what the individual in question does is known as pacing. In this way we will make the individual see his reflection through us, which will facilitate the formation of an affinity.

Once we achieve coupling, our objective will be to address the individual by changing some of those variables to achieve that he pursues us unconsciously, and achieve in him, the changes that we want to bring about.

Sensory awareness.

In order for us to work NLP correctly it is necessary to be with all our senses wide awake so that we do not omit any detail about what others are indicating to us, paying a lot of attention to verbal communication and for obvious reasons also to non-verbal communication.

Objective the results.

Before we start heading towards a specific part, it is extremely necessary that we know where we should move, since depending on our goal, directing each movement that we make, because in the same way, before beginning any stage of change, we must to know what is the goal that we want to achieve, and to always keep it in mind in a totally clear way and that there is no doubt, since this way, our whole being and our mind will be totally focused to choose the best decision that will help us achieve everything. what we have proposed.

Flexible behavior and conduct.

In a given system, the person who has the most ductile behavior is the one with the most probability of achieving success. And of course, if we want to achieve any positive change, we will have to have the ability to change our way of acting because one of the main points in NLP is that if we continue repeating the same thing, we will continue to have the same results.

The main objective of NLP is not that we distort our reality, but to change the map by which we send ourselves and by which we observe said reality, so that we have the ability to perceive it in another way that allows us to enhance our capabilities and increase our quality of life.

Neuro-linguistic programming applications.

The applications of NLP are very varied and affect an important variety of fields, among which are: sales, communication with the rest of the individuals, interpersonal relationships, health, decision-making, personal growth, among others, achieving changes in accelerated way, since:

  • It makes communication much easier, which can be used for the sales area, for an organization that wants to increase the leadership skills of its collaborators and the management of human capital, likewise, it will be useful in the area of The education.
  • It will help to enhance abilities and capacities that the individual already possessed, but not that he exploited them in the appropriate way and they were wasted by all, which would help him to achieve his goals.
  • It will help our health to be better, since it helps to suppress negative feelings and emotions (depression, fear, among others) and also forget about harmful vices (alcohol, cigarettes, among others). It will help someone who is naturally shy to feel more secure.
  • Enhances the ability to create and innovate.
  • We will completely forget that mentality that limits us by replacing the negative schemes we have with positive ones.
  • It helps professional development, since a good range of professionals, such as businessmen, doctors, professions, psychologists, among others, can help any individual to achieve the results they want with the speed and effectiveness that characterizes NLP.

NLP and its application in the organization.

Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), applied to the organization, enables the learning skills of collaborators to be enhanced. In this way, it will not only be possible to manage changes but also implement them, and thus direct and exercise control so that the professional interests of the organization are achieved.

It also helps to increase the ability to choose and increase influence in situations that are exhibited during the work cycle. (Pascual, 2014)

Uses in organization and business coaching.

According to (Pascual, 2014) some uses that can be given to NLP in an organization are the following:

  • Motivation and inspiration between collaborators and managers Coordination of events and meetings of different kinds, such as business or to discuss policies, aimed at influencing decision-making Preparation of audiences Unlocking negotiations Change various negative attitudes that collaborators may present Establish new systems of communication in the organization Applications in processes to select possible candidates for a certain position.

Thanks.

I thank my family, for giving me all the support and the drive to continue day by day, the Orizaba Technological Institute and CONACYT for opening their doors to me and allowing me to continue my studies with the Master in Administrative Engineering and Doctor Fernando Aguirre y Hernández for Motivate me with your knowledge in the Fundamentals of Administrative Engineering seminar to carry out each of the assigned articles.

Conclusion.

Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) is a very significant tool and strategy to redefine the perspective that individuals have about themselves.

Within organizations, this will help change the way employees are viewed and will help them enhance their skills and abilities, seeking to be better day by day. In this way, organizations, having in their ranks human capital with this new perspective, will be able to be more competitive and last for a long time in the market.

Using NLP will help individuals to "program" in a way that empowers them and achieves the goals that have been set. It is also important to mention that communication will improve in a noticeable way, making the understanding of the information that is circulating easy for everyone to understand.

Likewise, human capital can be better trained and taught, making planning processes more effective, and this will be for the benefit of all people.
