The organization structure is a tool that helps to achieve the goals of the organization and / or company. However small it may be, you must start by defining your objectives, since your resources may be limited and must be used effectively if the company is to survive and prosper.

According to the financial encyclopedia, Organizational Design has two very different meanings. In a literal sense it refers to the construction of the organization in its environment and in another sense, it refers to design in a metaphorical sense, as the structure that organizations develop.

Organizational design

According to most authors, organizational design is a metaphor, like traditional architecture that shapes organization (some authors say information) the space where life will take place. It also represents a concept that involves a connection between the organization's structure with other systems within the organization in order to create a unique synergistic system that will be more than the sum of its parts.

Now, organizational design is defined within the formal organization through an organizational chart, and informally through the most important organizational culture, business processes, strategy and human resources, because an organization is nothing more than a system of people.

Through the design of structures within the organization, the achievement of an adequate means is sought that enables the organization to be efficiently used.

The formal structure is an extremely important element as it provides an adequate internal environment in the organization, in which the activities carried out by its members contribute to the achievement of the organizational objectives. In this sense, a structure is effective if it facilitates the achievement of objectives. If we want an efficient structure, it is therefore necessary to adequately design the formal structure, since it will therefore reduce costs or avoid unforeseen consequences for the organization.

Organizational Design and its main characteristics

Some systems are more effective and efficient than others. The former can be attributed the expertise applied in the design of the system or the quality of the management practiced during operations, or both. Some of the characteristics of successful systems are their simplicity, flexibility, reliability, economy and acceptability.

Simplicity, flexibility and reliability tend to be a function of design, while economy and acceptability correspond to both design and operations.

What role do managers play in Organizational Design?

Shrewd and imaginative designers have greater ability to design structures with the greatest efficiency and effectiveness within recognized limitations.

Algorithm

According to some authors, it is a prescribed set of instructions or well-defined, ordered and finite rules that allow an activity to be carried out by means of successive steps that do not raise doubts as to who should carry out said activity. Given an initial state and an input, following the successive steps a final state is reached and a solution is obtained.

History

The word algorithm comes from the name of the mathematician named Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Musa al-Khwarizmi who lived between the 8th and 9th centuries.

For this reason, it deserves that this concept is associated with its name. Al-Khorezmi was undoubtedly the first algorithmic thinker.

As early as the 19th century, the first written algorithm for a computer was produced. The author was Ada Byron, in whose writings the analytical machine was detailed in 1842. For this reason she is considered by many to be the first programmer although, since Charles Babbage, no one completed her machine, so the algorithm was never implemented.

Finally we can conclude that all great design of an organizational structure requires brilliant minds with great capacity for synthesis and vision to determine its structure. An important tool in the design of structures is to rely on an algorithm which will allow the probability of error to be determined by improving the information flows within the company and thereby reducing operating costs, speeding up the obtaining of information.
