Principles of a new work culture in Mexico

Although we speak that the new work culture is aimed at generating work habits, creating productive practices, promoting values ​​in the workplace, making workers aware of their rights and duties so that as a group they achieve collaboration harmonic achieving higher levels in attitudes, aptitudes and abilities allowing in turn the increase of productivity and competitiveness in companies that are experiencing the phenomenon of globalization, but the most important of this new work culture would be to raise the living standards of workers and their families promoting their integral development.

We can go back to the year 1995 when Carlos Abascal, being National President of the Employers' Confederation of the Mexican Republic (COPARMEX), and Fidel Velázquez Sánchez as Secretary General of the Confederation of Mexican Workers (CTM), signed an agreement in order to start a collaborative stage, based on the values ​​and skills that would make up this new work culture. As with any agreement another one was added; now between the Labor Congress (CT) and the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) in which work tables were set up between representatives of the labor sector, employees and labor authorities and gave rise to a document called "Principles of the New Labor Culture" in 1996. These agreements were based on the following bases:

The aforementioned agreements served as the basis for the generation of particular agreements, collective bargaining agreements and a significant change in institutional relations between workers 'and employers' organizations, allowing greater harmony in negotiations as in the case of minimum wages and in the discussions that took place in the years 2000-2006 for the elaboration of some reforms of the labor laws
