Definition:

The sense of belonging is defined as the feeling of ownership or possession over an object of interest.

And that is where the key lies, it refers to FEELING THE OWNER OF SOMETHING, it does not matter that it really is not.

Some organizations or their members have given up on the titanic task of awakening a sense of belonging in their collaborators, encouraged by the reasoning that tells them that it is impossible to make someone feel that they own something that does not really belong to them.

But this is not entirely true, since if we analyze the psychology of individuals a little better we will find that people have a GREAT NEED OF BELONGING and from there they develop an interest in caring for, protecting and defending what they believe to be their property. They are: Love relationships, religious fanaticism, fans of sports teams, fans of an artist, behaviors that demonstrate the tendency that people have to appropriate brands, people and organizations over which they have very little participation and no power of their own over they.

We are already clear about our weakness as organizations and it is that our human team, our largest workforce, cannot really feel part of our business family because of an undeniable reality in organizations and that is that human capital is essential, the individual is not. But it is not the person who perceives this, but we as an organization who transmit it to them. We have a strength and it is that we have all our human, technological and financial resources to change this paradigm, we are faced with a threat and it is those organizations, beliefs, experiences and people that take advantage of this need to belong to the group. And the clear opportunity to use that need to our advantage.

In conclusion: It is our duty to seek strategies that allow us to take advantage of that need for individual and collective belonging that exists in the environment, make the members of our organizations feel chosen, offer them a life goal and the way to achieve it, strive to make them feel proud of the place where they belong, showing them that we exist through and for them is the compendium of those focuses towards which our planning must go if we want to enjoy the most genuine, pure and disinterested sense of belonging in our organizations.
