Nip decision technique: positive - negative

Positive / Negative / Interesting Technique

PNI is the reduction of the words: Positive / Negative / Interesting. It is an Edward de Bono development of the well-known "profit and loss" used universally.

PNI is a basic decision technique

When you come across a decision, make a table with the columns 'Positive', 'Negative', and 'Interesting'.

In the Positive column, list all the positive points.

Then in the 'Negative' column list the negative points.

Finally In the Interesting column list the extended implications, positive or negative.

Don't go jumping from positive to negative, etc. Do the exercise sequentially.

Value your PNI

You can decide from your table or include a subjective score from 0 to 10 with positive numbers and from 0 to 10 with negative numbers.

Finally add the score and you will have a result that will tell you if your decision should be made in case of a positive number between 5 and 10 or if your decision should be avoided.
