The fear of making decisions and organizational development

Anonim

From ancient times to our current times there are different types of phobia of which are defined as a psychological disorder that has a wide incidence in the world population, phobia are irrational, intense uncontrollable fears that some people manifest in a certain situation or before some Particular element, a phobia is the fear of facing something, there is a great variety in kinds of phobia, for example claustrophobia (fear of confinement), zoophobia (fear of animals), coulrophobia (fear of clowns), triscadecaphobia (fear of number 13) etc.

We can return to the fact that our phobias can occur from our childhood but should not be confused with normal childhood fears, which we overcome according to our maturity. When talking about the phobia I will return to one in specific that is the decidephobia, which is a new type of fear revealed by Walter Kaufmann in 1973, who also uses the neologism to replace " the fear of autonomy ", this emphasizes when saying the fear of make our own decisions.

Decidephobia is the fear of making decisions, more than anything it is the fear of making mistakes when we have already made a decision, whether good or bad, and we will always have the doubt of knowing if we are right or wrong, which is a phobia, this type of situation It is where we have to make use of our skills and emotional capacities, in moments of crisis which makes decision making more difficult in our daily, work and personal life.

Without realizing it ourselves, we cause this phobia of decisions, sometimes we let other people decide for ourselves, it seems to be a simple action but the fear of knowing if we are right or wrong will always be there.

A good decision-making that we have without any doubt will give us control of our life without mistakes, doubts or frustrations that will always lead us to poor decision-making, taking up important points in the decision, this consists of three stages:

1.- the recognition of the need: feeling of dissatisfaction with oneself.

2.-the decision to change, to fill the void or need;

3.- Conscious dedication to implement the decision.

Based on these three stages of the decision, I am clear that as a person the fear of my decisions makes me dissatisfied with what I am going to do, whether at a family, personal, sentimental or social level, the fear of relatively changing my social fears and the need to implement changes in my life and everything that surrounds me making a correct decision.

Keywords that describe decidephobia are: decision, fear, choice, frustration, courses of action.

These words mean that when we make a decision we encounter barriers which prevent us from having certainty in what we do and what we decide, we have to face this fear and stagnation in our daily life

This phobia can focus on many aspects, the fact of not deciding our actions well.

HARRY TRUMAN says " every bad decision I make is followed by another bad decision "… this phrase makes us reflect that we have to make a good decision to have good results in what we want and thus not have errors, for that we must be sure in what we are going to decide.

We can also focus on decisionphobia in organizational development on this issue, a good decision-making will lead us to success because the desired objective would be achieved, organizational development consists of four phases which must have a good decision so that the first can be developed It is the diagnosis in which it tries to detect problems that may affect the development of a company and make correct decisions to solve them, the second is planning, as its name says, are the plans to follow to develop structures that strengthen the company without fear of making wrong decisions, the third is the implementation and execution in this phase you have to implement decisions to achieve the desired and execute them fully to achieve a good business development and finally is the evaluation of the change in this phase the company as its name says it is evaluating the decisions that were taken to achieve the effective productivity of the company and its good decision making.

Implement change strategies in the organizational structure, various decisions will be implemented and give points of view so that the decisions can be carried out and make them known in a brainstorm to apply them in the organizational structure.

A manager must make many decisions every day. Some of these decisions are routine and without consequences, while others drastically influence the operations of the company in which you work. Some of these decisions could mean the gain or loss of large sums of money, or whether or not the company achieves its mission and goals.

As Herbert Simón said: The entire administrative or managerial decision-making process is similar to the practice of administration or management. Decision making represents the central element of all managerial functions.Planning, for example, involves the following decisions: What should be done? When? How? Where? Who should do it? Other managerial functions, such as organization, implementation and control, are highly dependent on decision-making, the important decisions that eventually shape, guide and direct our future are objects of extreme fear for business leaders in planning these. Questions are extremely important since with them we will have the certainty that it must be done in order not to fall into a business malfunction.

conclusion

In our daily life, decision making is always very important because we will always have to decide how far we should go. Decision making is essential for any human activity. In this sense, we are all decision makers. However, making a 'good' decision begins with a constant and focused reasoning process that includes many disciplines.

Many of us do not make our own decisions, other people make them for us because there will always be fear of facing reality if we do things correctly, good decision-making allows us to live better. It gives us some control over our lives.

Decisions are not only what we must make but also what we can do.
