The entrepreneur's feelings, how to approach them positively

Anonim

The emotional part of an entrepreneur is little described and it may be thought that one is the only one that things happen to him or that he is the only one who is attacked by contradictory feelings when deciding to become an entrepreneur. For this reason, this article describes those feelings and emotions that attack the entrepreneur by nature and that are not exclusive to a single person, are generalized and attend to any type of activity of the entrepreneur, whatever their activity.

An entrepreneur is a human being like anyone who thinks and feels, however he must know himself and know how to manage his emotions so that a critical situation does not affect his performance and much less diminish his enthusiasm to continue with his project.

What are emotions for? Do they help make decisions? Are there positive and negative emotions? Are they bad counselors?

Emotions guide us when it comes to facing difficult moments and tasks that are too important to be left only in the hands of the intellect (1), therefore they should be accommodated and their value should not be underestimated; for something and for something they exist, they function as a liberator of energy for the intelligent part of our being.

For years, paradigms have been built around the feelings and emotions of the human being, showing them as exclusive of one sex, derived from a circumstance or coming from a lack of maturity of the person. But it has been forgotten that feelings and emotions are included by nature, and are an inherent part of the structure of the thinking being. They are not chosen, nor are they moderate in intensities according to the personality of each individual, they simply exist and are included in the part of being, independent of doing and knowing. Just as there is the part of emotion and feeling, there is also the reason that complements and gives coherent meaning to the existence of the human being.

The foregoing could suggest that the human being has a duality, that it is divided into two or that it reacts to two different but not distant instances, which is thinking and feeling. In a very real sense, we have two minds, one that thinks and one that feels (1).

What does an entrepreneur need? The part that thinks or the part that feels? In reality you need both, they are definitely exclusive, but in addition to knowing that you need both parties, you must be aware of knowing how to handle and control them in an astute way to realize yourself as an intelligently sentimental human being and as a successful entrepreneur.

For a long time the emotional part of the human being has been relegated because it is related to weakness, fragility, insecurity, when academic intelligence has little to do with emotional life (1). This is how contradictory reality can be about beliefs or paradigms regarding the sensitive part of the human being.

There are certain emotions that could be classified as negative and that are inevitable for people in common and entrepreneurs are no exception, however they are more exposed to them due to the activity they carry out as the sole responsible for their economic future and growth as entrepreneurs. To mention a few, we start with fear, which has a negative association, however there are times when it is usually healthy because it serves to protect us from many dangers.

Anxiety is another emotion that, unlike fear, has a previous character, however, anxiety is difficult to overcome, since we are not sure what will happen. Regarding worry, it differs from anxiety, especially by degree. And it stems from fear (2).

Uncertainty, indecision and insecurity are other feelings understood by the entrepreneur and that will accompany him in his daily activity, but with experience and years of work they will become part of his daily life, so if an entrepreneur is reading, do not feel the only one with these mixed fears and feelings of wanting to do something different for their own benefit and, on the other hand, of not knowing what to do or where to start. It is said that the positive actions of men and women must always be accompanied by dreams and ideals and perhaps you will not be able to calm the sea, but you will be able to adjust your sails, that will give orientation and security to your actions. (3)

Who has not experienced these feelings in different circumstances? Surely everyone, but as if this were not enough, an entrepreneur faces these and many other feelings, so he must have the mettle and nerves of steel to overcome them and not allow them to cloud his vision in order to continue with his goal, remember that they are the ones who bear the responsibility for their own future, that of the family and that of the employees who work for the company.

The attitude is a manifestation of the state of mind, an entrepreneur must definitely always have a positive disposition in the face of obstacles, difficulties and all kinds of inconveniences that are crossed in his walk.

Therefore, managing one's own emotions must be an inherent skill of a good entrepreneur. It is said that emotional learning begins in the first moments of life and lasts throughout childhood (1), therefore, as adults we must strengthen the feelings of children to prevent them from growing up with fears and insecurities, more Later it is not known when they will have to show their emotional maturity.

Who has an entrepreneurial attitude knows how to take risks but responsibly, seeks a different path to resignation, stops dreaming and seeks in reality a better way of life, stops being an observer to be an actor of their own future and of those who do so. They surround themselves, they do not allow themselves to be defeated at the first failure, they know themselves and their capacities, abilities and in the worst stumbles they know how to recover to get back up and recapitulate what has been learning so as not to fall again. If you ever feel fear, fear or feeling that something negative may happen, think about your alternatives and response options in the face of such a vicissitude, that is when the ability of an entrepreneur is really tested, and if you think that it is just one of the few tests that It will be his turn to face, cope and overcome, then he will have learned his lesson.
