This document provides guidelines on the production and transmission of content in accordance with the mission and objectives of Radio Majaguabo as a community radio station.

Radio Majaguabo, a community radio station, aired on July 5, 1982 with the purpose of serving the communities of San Luis, southeastern territory of Cuba. In particular:

Our programs can help you take the steps necessary to improve, maintain and elevate lifestyles. It is important to keep in mind that these guidelines are not the law, but the principles, values ​​and ethical or moral operating standards of this community radio station of the Republic of Cuba.

The Editorial and Production Notes values, principles, standards, allow us, firstly, to achieve our dissemination objectives and, secondly, to harmonize our right of access to information and freedom of expression with our obligations to the communities those we serve, attending to the policies of our Cuban Revolution, our idiosyncrasy and the rules and regulations that support broadcasts from this area.

All staff members and other people hired to work with the station must respect the fundamental freedoms and rights of the people, as guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba.

All content producers must comply with the editorial and production guidelines contained herein in line with the objectives established for our local broadcaster. However, if circumstances arise in which compliance with any of the guidelines contained herein must be assessed to better serve the audiences, it is advisable that the content first go through the approval of the Editorial Board in the person of the Director of the Press Organ.

THE EDITORIAL BOARD

The Editorial Board of Radio Majaguabo will ensure that content producers comply with the editorial and production guidelines described in this document. In all of our broadcast work, the goal is to serve our audiences with the highest levels of integrity, independence, and commitment to ensure that people in the communities we serve have the information that enables them to make informed decisions and decisions about their lives and communities.

We recognize that ultimately our goal is to serve communities, but at any time we will endeavor to address the information and communication needs of individual members or individual groups or sections of the communities we serve. On this account, we will endeavor to segment our audiences into many categories according to their needs.

Audience segmentation is directly related to optimizing our communication efforts and investment in advertising. Simply put: knowing how to segment is saving effort and money; two very important issues in entrepreneurship, where each resource is limited and valuable.

EDITORIAL INTEGRITY AND INDEPENDENCE

Policy statement Radio Majaguabo is accountable to the communities where the radio station is established, to the Communist Party of Cuba, and to the Municipal Government Body. The Provincial Radio Directorate is the legal entity that represents us.

To strengthen our reputation as a credible and impartial station, we must be aware that there are internal and external factors that can compromise our position if we submit to their interests. Such an interest can be governmental, political, commercial, or even personal. Therefore, our broadcasts must reflect our value for integrity and independence at all times.

PROGRAM SPONSORSHIP

A program is considered sponsored when its production and transmission is paid for by an individual or organization with the aim of promoting its activities. However, regardless of sponsorship, we must maintain editorial authority. We would be open to the particular interests of legal entities (mass organizations). Although we clarify, we would not lose editorial control, ensuring that the content of the program responds to our publication policy.

ADVERTISING AND ADVERTISING

To maintain our operations, Radio Majaguabo will accept commercial advertising as long as it does not compromise editorial control. However, we will not accept advertisers with known illegal activities. When entertainment and other non-journalistic program hosts endorse sponsored products, we should make clear that such endorsement does not necessarily represent Radio Majaguabo.

Radio Majaguabo will not allow any member of its staff to accept incentives from suppliers for personal benefit. In the production and broadcast of programs, we may incur costs of travel, accommodation or use of the facilities.

As such, in cases where we agree to such arrangements, we must;

CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

To preserve our status as a credible radio broadcaster, members of the staff, Editorial Board, and members are expected to avoid any inappropriate behavior, attitude, or activity, even when off duty, that could compromise our status in light of the audience.. Examples may include the expression of views that reflect bias or position on a contentious issue.
