Internet business. 5 things you should not do with your brand on the web

Anonim

We talk about success. We are looking for people to reveal their secrets to us to achieve that success. We spend hours and hours, crawling the web, tips to thicken our pockets faster.

What we seldom think about is: if I had the key that opens the vault to eternal fortune, would I lend it to everyone? And unless you are a natural and incredibly generous person, I doubt that you will answer yes.

I'm not going to tell you about success. I am not going to reveal any secret to you so that you succeed on social networks. What I'm going to do is tell you what you don't have to do to set yourself up for that success.

For sure, the key to success on the web is the quality, simplicity and attractiveness of the content we share. Let's be honest, saying that is not giving us any keys. It is rather to indicate where to start looking.

1. Don't sell. People do not enter social networks for brands, it is brands that enter to look for people. I mentioned it in previous articles (“5 keys to social success 2.0”): people do not enter to “buy” social networks, they do it to socialize, they look for stories, they look for a connection beyond the commercial.

2. Don't be a "Thing". People come in to interact. If they do not feel that there is someone on the other side of the web who reads what they publish and is attentive to respond and dialogue with them, they simply are not going to pay attention to the brand.

3. Don't set "Unattainable" goals. A frequent mistake is to set goals so big that they become impossible to achieve in the desired times. This only leads to feelings of frustration and reluctance. Remember: a good Community Manager must feel highly motivated all the time. This will help you to be more attentive and create content capable of attracting audiences that already engage with the brand, but also those who do not yet.

4. Don't despair. It leads to unnecessary pressure. The only result is to generate "apparent" improvements that in the long term stagnate complicating growth and sustainable development. Calm and patience are two of the most important qualities of a good Community Manager.

5. Don't forget your promises (and if you do, make sure you can keep them). It is a frequent mistake. "When we reach 10,000 fans we will give away such a product." And when the goal is reached, these kinds of promises are often forgotten. In most cases, it is the followers who “reinforce” the memory of the brand and ask “what happened?”. It would be much more interesting if we don't have to wait for those kinds of questions. But linked to this is also the case of "selling" or "promising" a product, gift, service, or whatever, and not being able to deliver (whatever the reason). Sometimes we offer products or services that exceed our possibilities. It is important to have values and show them. You have to be: honest, sincere, humane and, above all, credible.

These five points are, based on my experience, the most important NO that must be taken into account when undertaking digital marketing. These are the tips that I offer you so that you do not die trying to launch yourself on the web. Ideas, that if you take them into account, will not ensure your success but they will help you achieve it.

What else would you add to the list?
