Before starting to discuss about a Business Plan, it should be expressly pointed out that this type of document is not the end result of a set of studies undertaken, but rather is the ultimate goal for which they should be carried out. We could also say that the Business Plan is the tangible way of visualizing the when, how, how much and what of a business.
A business plan is a document that in an orderly and systematic way details the operational and financial aspects of a company. Like a map that guides a traveler, the business plan allows us to determine in advance where we want to go, where we are and how much we need to reach the set goal.
What are they for? Better understand your product or service. Determine what your goals and objectives are. Anticipate possible problems and failures. Clarify where your financial resources will come from. Have parameters to measure the growth of the company. It is a communication tool to familiarize employees, sales personnel, associates in the company's objectives. A good "business plan" saves money by focusing the organization on what's important.
Just as a "resume" is a person's written presentation, a "business plan" is the advance, written description of a company.
“We cannot conceive of an organism of any kind whose managers did not have in mind the objectives of the negotiation, and of course the best way to reach those objectives. A group of people who do not direct their efforts guided by some plan, becomes merely an incoherent and directionless nucleus and not an organism ”.
In global terms, it can be said that there are basically three types of Business Plans:
Summarized: (less than 20 pages) young companies, credit applications, successful records. Some say that the shorter, the more profitable.
Standard: (20-40 pages) generally intended to seek funds to expand projects or lines already in progress. It is orthodox and must be evaluated by peers. It is also the one that is presented to other companies in mergers, Joint Ventures, etc.
Strategic: They are also called manuals and they generally present long-term protocolized systems that are used in the control of management levels.
