TYPES OF INDICATORS

So we will be obliged to identify and / or define management indicators if our intention is really to manage effectively and efficiently to :

  • To be able to interpret what is happening. To take measures when variables go outside the established limits. To define the need to introduce changes and / or improvements and to be able to evaluate their consequences in the shortest possible time.

An organization therefore considers the need to define indicators by answering the following questions:

  • What should we measure? Where is it convenient to measure? When to measure? At what time or how often? Who should measure? How should it be measured? How will the results be disseminated? Who and how often will the data collection system be reviewed and / or audited?

Our first priority is to identify all the indicators and relate them to the management processes.

Any discrepancy must be resolved, in the sense of developing and / or systematizing new indicators, new processes and / or removing the unnecessary.

Then we will be obliged to identify and / or implement those management indicators that are or will be the main architects of the management of the processes.

Once the different types of indicators have been defined, no more than five indicators are recommended for each process.

Among these, there must be at least one management indicator, where the first task to be carried out with the aforementioned indicators consists of:

  • Specify the objectives of the indicators so that they are consistent with the Strategic Objectives Establish the periodicity of their measurement to guarantee the effectiveness of the approach and that the deployment is being carried out In those that are appropriate to establish comparisons and relate them to activities of benchmarking and / or learning activities and / or reengineering activities Save at least the data of the last five years to be able to show their trends Establish a panel of strategic indicators and establish priorities. It is more than evident that if we are talking about processes, we have or will have to identify the key processes. The panel of indicators will have exclusively the significant indicators of these processes. That is, they will have to be few and give a global and operational vision of business management. This panel of indicators will be used in all those operational meetings that are considered appropriate in order to establish and plan improvements with their corresponding cyclesPDCA. The rest of the indicators will be used by the team members at a second level.
