It should not necessarily be included in industries or manufacturing sectors, since it tends to focus on these areas; If not, engineering in commercial businesses, restaurants, hotels, advertising companies, etc. should also be included.
All these spaces, whether they are industries or businesses of another line of business, should emphasize human resources, finance and administration from another perspective; therefore, capable people with broad development are needed, who have the ability to manage change in different roles. There is the overriding need for agents of change, who provide a fresh innovative drive, the ability of top management, define strategies, etc.
All these needs can be satisfied by Business Management Engineering, which provides agents with training and education that covers these aspects, relevant to industries and businesses of other lines.

To have a better understanding of what Engineering in Business Management is, it is important to be clear about its roots, it is necessary to understand the following:
Engineering
The word Engineering originates when ancient Civilizations begin to apply engineering knowledge by applying it to large buildings such as temples, Dams or Canals, etc. In 1828 one of the first definitions of engineering was given, by Tomás Tredgold, defining it as: "The art of directing the great energy resources of nature for the use and convenience of man" (The Civils, 1988).

The term management can be understood as “the assumption and exercise of responsibilities over a process or set of activities, which includes concern for the provision of the resources and structures necessary for it to take place; the coordination of activities and their interactions; and accountability to the range of interested agents for the effects that the process is expected to unleash ”(Fantova, 2005). Which in conclusion makes it clear that it is a set of procedures, decisions and activities that allow to carry out or resolve a matter.
Conception of Engineering in Business Management.
Business management is an activity that seeks through people such as managers, engineers, producers, consultants, etc. to improve the productivity and competitiveness of businesses; since good management makes things better, correct and identifies the factors that influence success and a better result of what is managed.
The changing landscape of the market, information and communication technologies have made companies have to function in an increasingly complex environment; Therefore, the modern company must take on the challenge of modifying its management with specialized people, to compete successfully in the market, adapting to changes and new circumstances to come.
The foregoing and the fundamentals described, allow us to understand that engineering in Business Management is a discipline in which the knowledge of the mathematical, natural and humanistic sciences (which are acquired with the support of an institution of study, experience and practice) together they develop new approaches, where the engineer who develops in this area, can optimally use and manage the materials and human resources of a company or business for the benefit of the country and the being, in the context of ethical restrictions, physical, economic, environmental, human, political, legal and cultural.

Business Management covers different techniques that are applied to the administration of a company, and depending on the size of this, the difficulty or type of management will depend. The types of business management within an organization are (León, 2005):

Information Technology Management: It consists of applying information and communication systems to all areas of the company, to make appropriate decisions in conjunction with the use of the internet. Financial Management: Seeks to obtain money and credit at the lowest cost; as well as assigning, controlling and evaluating the use of financial resources of the company, to achieve maximum performance. Human Resources Management:Manages the workforce in the most efficient way and taking care of obtaining and developing personnel. - Plan: This function defines the goals of the organization, establishes the general strategy that will achieve the goals, and develops plans to integrate and coordinate activities, the allocation of resources and programs.Organization: Seeks to design the structure of the business or company including the determination of tasks, who will perform them, grouping, and how decisions will be made. Execution: It is basically carrying out the direction, conduction and leadership in practice. Every company, business, organization or institution is made up of people and it is the responsibility of the administrators and managers to direct and coordinate the activities of these people by putting them into practice Control: Once the previous steps have been carried out, there is a possibility that something may go wrong, or has any irregularity;To ensure that things are running smoothly, performance should be monitored and results compared with set goals and budgets.

Before understanding this wonderful entity, the engineer (in general), it is important to know the origin of the word that defines it. Engineering in Business Management by focusing on how businesses should be designed and managed, achieves a comprehensive vision in companies through the generation of patterns and the generalization of processes and activities. Although it is true, many financial agents, managers and entrepreneurs are aware of the strategic role that engineering plays in organizations to manage their processes and systems.
The development of Engineering activities will continue to be complex and risky, but when applied to business management, it satisfies the needs by finding a technically and economically optimal solution, finding simple solutions with minimal risk and at the lowest cost.
