Motivation in humans is like oxygen in the blood!

Motivation, from the Latin Motus: means “movement”.

It becomes energy and force that drives your behaviors, attitudes, and actions to achieve personal and organizational goals.

And human talent needs physical, intellectual, professional and emotional movement to achieve its purposes and objectives.

Motivation, according to some authors: "is the will to make a great effort to achieve the goals of the organization, conditioned by the capacity of the effort to satisfy some personal need".

And others define it as: "an internal force of the person, developed from external impulses that allow an action favorable to the fulfillment of objectives and goals".

But it is important to recognize that it is a very complex factor due to its duality, because in addition to being an internal force, present in every person; it depends on the prevalence of your different individual needs; which makes it a manifestation of highly varied and personalized features.

Although every man and woman is motivated, their motivation does not necessarily have to match organizational needs; since it is a reflection of the individual's personality and the impact of their interaction with the environment.

And if individual complexity is not enough, it also depends on external forces that drive it.

It is an interesting process that arises from the dissatisfaction, restlessness, discomfort of people when they have unsatisfied needs and desires, which generate tension, which produces strength and impulse, the desire to mobilize, assume a behavior aimed at satisfying the need or desire for movement and action to achieve satisfaction.

Being the cyclical process, once we satisfy a need, others are born and the cycle begins again, which has historically constituted one of the sources of evolutionary development of the human being

In the workplace there are different attitudes and motives related to the disposition of the person to work in what they like; that allow you when you are satisfied, assume the confidence that you can be able to achieve the achievement, in the optimism to fight for the goals; and in resilience, perseverance and energy in the face of obstacles until reaching them.

Motivation is an unavoidable objective of every intelligent leader, in pursuit of organizational and human development, since talent deserves to be motivated and its satisfaction significantly influences the organizational climate.

Work motivation will depend on two factors: How the person stimulates himself from knowing himself and identifying his needs and how the work environment stimulates him in line with his priority needs.

Recognizing the intelligent leader that motivation is a complex process, that it is not an act, a moment or an isolated action, but an interactive set of actions that influence the moods, the degree of satisfaction of the followers and the climate labor; It must prioritize attention to it at all times and develop permanent individual and group motivation programs, frequently checking their impact and establishing improvement actions.

We share some suggestions that, more than philosophical disquisitions, are real experiences that we have applied in our work environments with positive results:

Start by motivating yourself, take care of your own needs and be an example of satisfaction for others!

  • Identify each follower by name and characteristics Create an internal image of the importance of the company in the minds of each talent, and strengthen their sense of belonging and commitment Clearly communicate to your followers the mission and business vision and highlight the importance of the individual roles to play in the scope of the same Share information about the benefits that the company brings to its workers and the differences with other competitors Develop a motivational synergythat starts from characterizing and knowing in detail the individual needs to meet them personalized Assign organizational roles according to talent and give feedback objectively on performance Make each talent feel important regardless of their organizational position Sincerely encourage each talent according to their priority needs Thank personally the efforts of its followers.Reward personal and group performance with moral and material stimuli, in line with the needs and results that are achieved.Constitute motivation committees that evaluate and provide feedback on the status of the same and the aspirations of the group Manage a relaxed and equitable environment for everyone that encourages trust, sincerity, commitment and teamwork.Commit everyone to the goals and enable their development and growth Systematically update the state of the work environment.
