Assuming that a leader without vision could never inspire his followers. And that an organization without vision would become obsolete, stuck in the present; We would like to reflect today on the vision and its characteristics or requirements for itself and for intelligent leaders in its implementation.
Characterizing the Vision we will say that it is an abstract image, a dream, that is born in the minds of the leaders, in order to provoke a transition from the present situation to the future.
But this is not just any dream; rather, it becomes the driving force behind their strategies and actions; and in a powerful weapon to influence, persuade, motivate and enamor his followers to achieve it.
For this reason the vision must be inspiring, comprehensive, transcendent, urgent; inspire commitment and participation, while being flexible, articulate, practical and energetic. Whoever inspires it must be able to make it the guide of the planned change process.
The intelligent leader expresses his visionary excellence through the exercise of his abilities, particularized to the situation of his organization, to the characteristics of the environment and above all; aligned with the possibilities, values and needs of its followers based on the proposed goals.
And he does so by putting into action his communication skills to transmit and share the vision with his team; clearly convincing of the need and benefits of the challenge assumed; motivating each follower according to their potential and exercising a facilitating function in the design of strategies and actions. By enthusiastically motivating your followers to the right path, you do not impose your point of view, but rather support them and help them overcome the dissimilar obstacles along the way.
Additionally, it leads the action, is available, contributes to identifying roles to achieve the vision, provides feedback on progress and difficulties; Identify nerve points and make decisions more flexible to take advantage of opportunities. And it provides adequate and fair recognition to the actors for the results achieved.
Obviously leading visions intelligently is not easy….but it is worth committing ourselves to achieve it. Let's make a difference !!!
