PPAP, the control plan for production, is simply the pre-release control plan, but with no containment actions or additional checks added to ensure initial quality.
Again, this control plan must follow the AIAG format. (Consult the Advanced Product Quality Planning Manual, APQP)

The objective of the PPAP is to determine if all engineering design records and customer specifications are properly understood by the supplier and that the process has the potential to consistently produce meeting these requirements during a current production run.
What is it for?
The PPAP will apply to the sites of internal and external suppliers of production materials, in production parts and service parts.

- Production control plan must capture all present / potential failure modes Production control plan must include all quality controls present in production Development / timelines to develop production control plan
PPAP requirements
PPAP requirements vary based on an assigned level of submission to the supplier and / or party identification (number). The engineering quality supply is responsible for assigning a submission level. The level of submission is generally determined during the process based on these factors:
- Critical parts Experience in previously presented parts Supply fulfillment are the requirements of the system quality Proficiency of the supplier with a specific merchandise (part)
