LEADERSHIP or LEADER a very fashionable word nowadays due to the Global Crisis and they are heard named in Companies, Governments and even in the same street or in sports, someone who stands out for something in particular is already called LEADER and there they just set him as an example and order him to exercise LEADERSHIP and the vast majority of those who order him sometimes have no idea of the meaning of the word LEADER.
Some Examples of the meaning of the word LEADER:
- In a group, person who leads or has influence over it: In Congress, the party leader spoke about budgets. In a ranking, person or entity that ranks first: My team is the leader of its group. This factory is a leader in sales. The Dictionary of Behavioral Sciences (1956) defines it as the " qualities of personality and ability that favor the guidance and control of other individuals."
Other definitions are:
" Leadership is an attempt at interpersonal influence, directed through the communication process, towards the achievement of one or more goals "
"Leadership is the interpersonal influence exerted in a situation, directed through the process of human communication to the achievement of one or several specific objectives."
Confucius the Chinese philosopher by 551 BC. C. - 479 a. C. wrote about the LEADER calling him the Superior Man and gave eight very interesting points to take into account: how he should look, his expression, the use of his language, the way of questioning, how to handle business, etc. and a very important one that is rarely seen very often these days and that says - When you see the possibility of a profit, you need to think about equity.
It is said that a LEADER exists because of the healthy will of the people, because he inspires certainty, because he leads by example, because authority is a privilege of Service, because he does not manipulate people, because he is always first and is the first to get involved.. Do you, dear readers, know many Leaders who have these characteristics?
The most alienating fable of LEADERSHIP is that, they say that it is congenital, that is, that there would be a hereditary agent. This fable would lead us to say or suppose that there would be people who have these characteristics. In reality we could say that this fable is illogical and the opposite is valid in this case since LEADERS ARE MADE and the way in which we become leaders is through daily experience, through life, of our interpersonal relationships and of the Labor and not with the University degrees.
People learn to be leaders in difficult experiences, challenging adversity, they learn when one obtains information when going through very conflictive situations, internalizing them to their knowledge, these become their permanent sources of consultation, which give value and support to Your Leadership are your greatest treasure. In a word, universities do not teach to be a LEADER, there is no university degree that supports it.
The truth is that we must work and get involved with people to discover the talents of tomorrow, offer them our experience and choose those who really meet the requirements, one main one is that it must exist because people choose it and not because of the useless DEDOCRACY.
